She laughs. I laugh back. Shai looks so beautiful in the moonlight. Her hair, golden, dirty blonde, hair, is almost refreshing to look at. I could sit here for hours looking at her. I snap out of it. Right, we're at her house; and I'm meeting her parents for the first time.

We enter her parent's small home. I'm nervous, but not as much she is. I can feel her foot tapping on the wood floor, sending vibrations to mine. She says "I'm sorry if my parents come of a little harsh. Well, I mean it's mostly my dad, but. They don't really like meeting people that I'm involved with." "It's okay, I know its hard giving up their little girl to a stranger." I say.

Her mother emerges out of the kitchen. Her name is Lori, I remember. Her blonde hair is short, and curled, her eyes, the same color as Shai's; A beautiful green. She greets us. I stand up to shake her hand. "You must be Theo! I've heard so much about you!" Okay, I'm REALLY nervous now.. It's odd that she's being extremely nice to me. Wait stop it Theo, they're just being nice, I think to myself.

Her father, Lonnie comes out of the kitchen, his stern face makes my palms sweat. I was never comfortable meeting my girlfriends' parents; especially the fathers. The men of the house. My foot is now tapping rapidly, like Shailene's. "Hello." Her father says quickly. I stand up again to offer him my hand, but he just walks right past it. Uneasily, I sit back down. He sits down in the maroon chair in the corner, the largest, which I assume is the chair he always sits on. He is taller than I am, with greying hair. He looks at no one at first, but his eyes graze to mine. I can feel my body heating up. Lori starts the conversation.

"So! I've heard a lot about you Theo, you are very handsome, like Shai said!" I look over to Shai, and see that she's blushing. We start talking about how we met, and how long Shai and I have been together. After that I kind of zoned out. "Okay! Theo, it was very nice meeting you. You are such a wonderful young man for my daughter. Come visit anytime." Lori said. I was almost asleep. Her father glances at me, and gives me some what of a smile.

Shailene and I stand up and head for the door when I feel Someone grabbing at my arm. I turn around to see Lonnie; his stern face gone, replaced with a genuine smile. I say, "good night Mr. And Mrs. Woodley!"

He grips my arm harder. An even bigger smile forms on his face when he says, "call me Lonnie." "Thank you for your time... Lonnie." Then Shai and I walk out the door.
