"You have a meeting in 5 minutes P'Arthit"

Arthit looked up from his file to the speaker, his secretary, Kongpob.

Dressed impeccably, crisp in manner and very efficient.

And Arthit's love interest.

He closed the file and got up. Wore his coat and made his way to the door, with Kongpob briskly following him.

Kongpob's deep and clear voice filled the elevator as he briefed Arthit about this meeting.

Arthit closed his eyes and listened carefully, to the points and more so to his voice.

He liked it.

And often wondered and fantasised, how his morning husky voice would be like. How his voice during midnight talks would be like.

And his hands forever itched to be placed on Kong's chest and feel the vibration as he spoke.

Feel his heartbeat.

Or even better, listen to it.

He sighed as he exited the lift.

Not now, never in this lifetime atleast.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Arthit sat at the backseat of his car and looked outside his window, with Kongpob driving.

At the time when he had realised his feelings for Kongpob, he used to keep glancing at Kongpob through the rear view mirror.

So much, that Kong had finally asked if there was a problem.

But not now, he learned his lesson. Right now, he was just content with the fact that Kongpob was near him, alive and breathing.

And even though he didn't looked at him, he could still feel his presence.

Through his intoxicating perfume.

Had Arthit ever mentioned, that consciously or unconsciously, he had toned down his perfume, only so that he could take in Kong's perfume.

It made him feel relaxed and intoxicated, like now.

The car was filled with his scent.

Arthit sighed contently and went back on checking his mails.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Arthit looked on jealousy as the shop owner flirted with Kongpob.

If he could have his way, he would drag Kongpob away and claim him, right here, right now.

But he wouldn't, because he couldn't.

How do you suppress these feelings of love, realising that person could never belong to you.

How do you control your body, when they are in close proximity for most of the day.

How do you delete your realisation to end your unending misery.

Because no matter how cheerful and enthusiastic Arthit looked, he was sad from inside. He had this aching void inside of him that wanted to be filled with Kongpob.

He wanted to own Kongpob and be owned by him.

But that's impossible.

He was shook out of his disheartening thoughts as Kongpob handed him the pink milk.

Arthit smiled, a bitter one.

He'll take what he can get.

-----------------------------------------------------------

When was the time when Arthit fell in love with Kongpob?

Was it the first day itself? When he flashed his charming smile at Arthit.

Or was it the day, when he realised how efficient was Kongpob?

Or was it every day? As Kongpob worked to make his life easier?

Or was it all of them?

He doesn't know.

But what he does know, was that his love was now irrevocable.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Arthit stared at Kongpob through his sunglasses as they waited.

Had he ever mentioned, that he had increased the use of sunglasses, to stare at Kongpob unabashedly?

And he had done this so often, that he remembers every single feature on Kongpob's face. He had remembered his every attire, his shoes, his watches, his expressions, his smiles everything.

Because he could never get lucky to admire those things openly.

Not now, not ever.

So absorbed was he, that he didn't noticed a voice calling from behind.

"Arthit!!"

He looked back at a pretty woman.

She smiled and immediately started chatting.

But Arthit was more aware of the retreating figure of Kongpob.

He so wanted to bolt after him and stop him from leaving. To forbid him from ever leaving.

He hated, no loathed seeing the retreating back of Kongpob. It was like he was slipping away every day.
And one day he will finally disappear.

Just the thought made him choking.

He was brought out of his thoughts when someone pulled him.

Oh yes. The cause of his unrequited love, his fiancée.

One might ask, why not break your engagement, if he was so hopelessly in love with Kongpob?

Well, because he belonged to his company first. He loved his company and his employees way before Kongpob happened.

His company was struggling. And this collaboration was necessary through his political marriage.

To save his company.

To save his employees who depended on him and looked up on him.

Surely he can't be selfish as to make so many people suffer in comparison to only one person's- his.

He was just doing, what was right and what felt right.

And he didn't blame anyone for the thing which he couldn't have.

Not god, not fate, not his life.

Because it was no one's doing but his.

He's sure of coping with the misery of losing Kongpob. But he could never deal with the guilt and misery of failing his company, his family, his employees. Never.

So even though, he felt like Kongpob too was in love with him. He held back and stayed where he was.

One step ahead of Kongpob, and Kongpob one step behind him.
