It was a cold Autumn day in September. As the sun began to set, daytime New Yorkers started to retreat into warmer houses and apartments. Meanwhile, as it got darker, other New Yorkers started to appear. These were society's rich and respected. The loved and sometimes, the hated. The businesspeople and the party-goers. Dressed in the latest trends and brands with professional-standard makeup and hair. Wealth radiating off them, mostly aided by their expensive perfumes. Each attending a different event or party each night. Afterwards, creeping back into their townhouses and penthouses to nurse their seemingly never-ending hangovers.

The latest event was a fundraiser supporting research into treatment for Breast cancer. Held in a magnificent hall of one of the many Bass Hotels, pink was the main theme of this event. Ladies wearing pink dresses and men wearing pink ties or bows around their necks danced or simply talked as the music filled the room. The glittering chandeliers that hung over the event-goers heads had been changed so pink light reflected off the walls and onto the lively party going on underneath.

In the corner of the room, there was a pink bar in which a particular individual stood at. She wore a short pink cocktail dress with matte white high heels. Knowing full well that only someone with absolute confidence could wear those expensive white heels. All you need is a puddle and they could be ruined. This confidence was highlighted in her piercing brown eyes that carefully scanned the crowd. Pink lips pursed. Her chocolate brown hair was done up in a messy look yet didn't ruin her outfit at all, in fact, it added to it.

Eleanor Bass felt her phone vibrate beside her. She looked down at it sitting on the side of the bar, it was her best friend. She warned that Eleanor's parents had just arrived.

'Why do they always have to be on time?' She mumbled to herself.

A boy next to her hastily turned to her, 'Sorry did you just say something?'

While frantically texting Bianca back, Eleanor answered 'No. Why would I-'

She glanced up at him and was immediately lost for words. He was so handsome. Like not just a whatever handsome, but handsome handsome.

She smiled her well-known smile, 'I'm sorry. My name is Eleanor Bass, and you are?'

'Ah, a Bass, your Father must be around here somewhere. I would love a word with him.'

Eleanor blinked. Hard.

'Oh. The names Theodore Lewis.'

'Theodore, right?' She laughed flirtatiously 'I like it.'

Suddenly, her laugh faded and her smile disappeared. Looking over the guy's shoulder, she spotted her Mother across the room, wearing one of her own dresses and greeting another couple.

'Oh no.' Eleanor turned back to Theodore. 'I so sorry, I have to go.'

He opened his mouth to say something but before he could, Eleanor had gone.

She made her way in the opposite direction to her mother. Her eyes once again scanning the crowd for her best friend, Bianca.

Suddenly, a man in a suit stepped in her way. As she looked up, she locked eyes with her father. Chuck Bass.

'Dad. I didn't know you were going to be here tonight. What a coincidence!' She laughed nervously.

'Eleanor, I am the one hosting this party and it is in my hotel. Of course, I am going to be here. You, on the other hand, aren't. Why aren't you at home?' He was completely blocking her from escaping.

'Well, you know how it is, can't resist a good party!'

'Well let's hope your mother doesn't see you. You know how she can be. She'll probably take your phone off you at least.'
