                                    Allyssa Lies- Short Story

Allyssa walked to school on that cold Monday morning, scared of what the other kids would think of her, it was her first day of grade 2.  What were the kids like? Was her teacher nice? She didn’t want a mean teacher, surely she had put up with that enough at home. Allyssa was so happy to be going back to school, away from her mommy.

Every minute of time spent at home gets worse and worse. When she finally made it into the school yard, she walked over to the big building and sat in the corner, far away from the playground. She was afraid the other kids would pick on her because of her bruised body; She desperately tried to cover up, but there were just too many to cover.

The bell rang suddenly, causing Allyssa to jump. How long had she been sitting there? It didn’t seem long; everyone started to line up, so she picked up enough courage and followed the other kids. A blonde haired girl with big blue eyes came up to Allyssa smiling.

"Hi, I'm Rose!" she introduced herself. Allyssa tried her best to smile back at her.

"Hi, I'm Allyssa." She said. Rose threw her arms around Alyssa, and they were hugging.

"I can tell already were going to be great friends!" She said excitedly. This caught Allyssa off guard; no one hugged her, not even her mommy! But she had to admit it felt good, hugging Rose.

As they pulled away from each other, Rose looked at Allyssa and thought she was pretty. She had long brown hair and the brightest green eyes she had ever seen, but what caught her eye was the big bruise on her cheek. She didn’t say anything, too afraid that she would upset Allyssa. That was the last thing she wanted to do.

"Do you want to sit with me in class?" Rose asked Allyssa. All Allyssa could do was nod, and before she even knew what was happening, Rose was dragging her into the school.  They sat together, and worked together all day, until the last bell rang. Allyssa wished she didn’t have to leave, she would stay at school forever if she could; She wished she could stay with her new friend Rose.

Allyssa walked Rose over to her fathers car, where he was waiting for her in the parking lot; Allyssa wished she could see her daddy, but she only saw him every other weekend. "Allyssa do you want to come over and play at my house?" Rose asked Allyssa. Rose liked Allyssa a lot! Rose wished she could play longer with her.

Allyssa so badly wanted to go with Rose and play at her house, but she knew mommy would be mad at her if she did. "I have to go home, I'm sorry," she apologized, and then walked away. The walk home was nice; it felt good on Allyssa's bruised face. The cool wind helped the pain die down, which made her a little happier. But that soon was over, when she saw her house come into view. She didn’t want to go home to mommy, but she knew she had to. She had no where else to go, and daddy couldn’t take her! He was too busy working.

Walking up the porch stairs to her house, Allyssa couldn’t help the fear that ran through her as she heard the sound of glass shattering in the house. Mommy was home, and she knew what that meant. She opened the door slowly, and walked in.

"Allyssa, where the hell have you been?" Her mother shouted. Allyssa flinched as a glass plate barley managed to pass her, without hitting her and smash against the wall. Allyssa's mother marched over to Allyssa grabbing her, and pulling her over to the stairs, she started shaking her violently.
