I sat in the side room alone, listening to the clock on the wall tick. Barrett walked in without saying a word. I wanted answers.

"How is he?"

"He's agreed to be subdued in order to run tests on him — to see how bad the damage is." he tapped one side of his temple with his index finger. Fucking hell...

He took notice of my silence and continued talking. "We're taking him to the main base. Quantico. Theres medical staff there who can take care of him." He placed a hand on my shoulder "I'm so sorry Black. We'll try our best."

That fucking fool. It's his fault Rem was caught anyway. If I could go back and change their places I would in a fucking heartbeat. Well, now I would. Before all this shit happened we were allies. That's over now. He gave me a simple pat on the shoulder and left.

I must have zoned out; when I was brought back to the real world, a message on the computer screen said their trucks would be leaving soon after, it seemed Rem had already been medicated. It didn't seem like something he'd agree to but of course, he's bound to have changed since we last properly spoke. I left the office, making my way to the small hangar our vehicles had been parked in when we'd arrived. They were already loading him into their ambulance, obviously one they'd either salvaged or blatantly stolen. There were more people now, but I paid them no mind. Three boys in particular were loading into a van of their own. I say boys, yet they couldn't be much younger than myself. They dressed rather differently and looked and acted it too:

A mild mannered brunette with hair down to his jaw

A friendly, rather humorous lighter hair cut shorter than the other

The third was a rather loud and dramatic with dyed blue hair which was starting to grow out. I think I'd heard someone refer to him as Knight.

None of that mattered though, and I'd be driving alone again.

I'd have to get used to this.
