The sun beat down mercilessly on the small town, forcing its rays into every nook and cranny. No one was spared from the heat. It was the awkward time between breakfast and lunch, where no one wanted to eat but were outside for some reason. And here, is where the tragedy happens.

I happen to be one with the skies, just something passing by, but something staying long enough to now of this story. Moving on to the story, Bora was sitting on the counter, swinging her legs, waiting for her shift to be over. She took a small part time job at the cafe as a favour for her friend, while she worked as a sales lady at the store a street down. There was not many customers that day as it was the day before most universities started their semester and the teenage crowd had dispersed the night before to make it in time for school. The arms of the clock reached the twelve mark, and she took of her apron, folded it, and kept it under the counter. The owner of the cafe smiled sweetly at her as they waved goodbye to each other.

A fancy sports car drove up to the entrance of the cafe and in the car were Bora's friends. The one driving was Hyolyn and next to her riding shotgun was Dasom, the baby of the four. In the backseat, it was Soyou. I remember the four of them clearly, from a story from my friends. When Bora had turned eighteen, she brought the rest of them out of the orphanage to live on their own. She worked full time supporting them through school until they all had basic education and were of age. Now, Hyolyn works at a retro bar and cafe and Soyou works at the beach as a lifeguard and a yoga teacher. Dasom on the other hand studied at a local university and occasionally acted as extras on sets to earn extra money.

Although I have no knowledge of the economy and the devastation that it could bring, the girls got by and lived happily together. Another friend of mine approached me yesterday and told me all about the night two days before that fateful day. Four of them stayed up late in their apartment drinking cheap canned beer and surfing the internet. They were celebrating having enough money in their shared bank account. Hyolyn took the initiative to search for motels, inns, car rental services while Soyou and Bora commented on the search results and Dasom lazily lay on Bora's lap, piping up occasionally.

That night they searched for nice cars they could rent for a day and a room they could book for just a night, which they all found and paid for online. Whatever online is, somehow the humans have evolved to not use the paper and the coins anymore . I can't seem to catch up with this ever evolving world, but I will learn as I go on.

Anyways, they finished whatever they were doing on Dasom's laptop and ate all the leftover takeout and drank all the beer before collapsing on the floor and falling asleep.

The next day, they all woke up with hangovers and went to a local restaurant to drink "hangover soup". Apparently it cures the headaches and stuff that comes after a very responsible night. They left the restaurant right when lunch hour hit, and went their separate ways. That night, they packed a light backpack with all their cash and clothes and fell asleep in each others arms.
