Hanahaki Disease

Part 9

Jungkook softly smiled as he stared at the picture he drew. It was a white rose, Jimin's sort of favorite flower.

Jimin.

They both knew each other back when they were younger. Both born in Busan, they attended the same elementary, middle, and high school. Though Jimin was just two years older, he still made time for Jungkook, and when he could they would both go to a field where there was  every type of flower. Jimin would go to pick the white roses while Jungkook would go to the anemone and dahlia's.

But actually Jimin's favorite flower was the peony. He would say that even though the peony was relatively a very common flower, most people wouldn't think much of it and for that reason the peony was always and forever would be his favorite flower. When they both reached high-school though. Jimin suddenly included white roses as his favorite flower.

At one point Jungkook asked why white roses were suddenly his favorite flower and Jimin would answer,

"There's a hyung that I know and his favorite flower is the white rose. I like him...a lot."

Jungkook didn't know at the time that the hyung Jimin liked was actually Yoongi. When Jungkook found that out though. He realized Jimin was too late as Yoongi was beginning to date Hoseok. Jungkook's and Jimin's friend that they both met when they were both in the same dance class.

Jungkook would hug a crying Jimin, would take care of a weak Jimin, and would fight for a defeated Jimin. Him and Jimin were honestly really close. As close as brothers. Maybe even closer. Jungkook would distract Jimin when he saw Hoseok and Yoongi turn around a corner holding hands or hugging. He had the help of Taehyung whom he met when he was in freshman art in high-school. As well as the help of both Namjoon and Jin who he met when he was in the last year of middle school and they were in high-school.

Jungkook did everything to help Jimin get better. At times he was too late to distract Jimin or was caught at school and couldn't help a crying Jimin. Guilt would wash over him in waves when he would see Jimin with tear stains running down his face, eyes puffy, and a weak defeated smile shining on his face.

Over time Jungkook saw a change in Jimin. At first he thought Jimin finally returned to normal. Happy and smiling. These thoughts appeared when he would see Jimin not even flinch when he saw Hoseok and Yoongi together. Or not even turn away when he saw them being all lovely dovely with each other. He didn't realize that Jimin would puke when they were all gone. He didn't realize that Jimin was beginning to get worse and worse. The first to find out was Jin. Second being Namjoon as Jin shared everything with him considering the fact that they were dating.

Jungkook, Taehyung, Yoongi, and Hoseok were all left in the dark about Jimin's condition. Jungkook noticed Jin and Namjoon being extra careful with Jimin though. Getting him whatever he wanted, treating him as though he was a precious jewel, being there when he needed them.

He didn't realize though that Taehyung was the next to know about Jimin's condition. Jungkook saw Taehyung treat Jimin the same way Jin and Namjoon treated him. No feelings of anger or jealousy or anything like that settled in Jungkook's stomach only curiosity which only grew over time.

Questions would pass by him.

'What's wrong with Jiminnie?'

'Is he okay?'

'Does he need my help?'

'Is he getting better?'

'Is he...

Dying?'

When thoughts like those arouse, Jungkook would shake them off but let them linger as well. Jungkook was a worry bug. Always thinking of both sides. So every thought, Jungkook would let them linger until he found a solution to them.
