A Moment Like This

Some people never get a chance to experience this kind of love. Many had a chance but never took the next step. Many took a risk but it didn't end well and they parted ways. Many moved on and loved another person. Some end up alone but not lonely. Some lived life like it never happened and Some lived life and moved forward with or without this kind of love.

"Ang ganda talaga dito!" Namamanghang wika ni Marry sa kanyang kasintahang si Dariel habang sila ay naglalakad patungong dalampasigan. Maaliwalas ang gabi, maliwanag ang buwan at marami ang nagkalat na mga bituin.

"Ang ganda nga, sobra" nakangiti wika ni Dariel.

Tinignan ni Marry ang kasintahan at napakunot ang kanyang noo nang makita ang malawak nitong ngiti.

"At bakit ganyan ka makangiti?" nagtatakang tanong ni Marry.

Tinignan siya ni Dariel at mas lalong lumawak ang ngiti nito. "I'm smiling because I feel so lucky and blessed." Sagot niya habang inilalagay sa tenga ni Marry ang ilang hibla ng buhok nito na nalaglag dulot ng umihip na hangin.

"Why? Did something good happen?" Tanong ni Marry habang nakangiti kay Dariel.

"Yes ... you." Huminto sa paglalakad si Dariel at puno ng pagmamahal na tinignan sa mga mata si Marry. "I'm so happy because at the age of 20, I already found the girl I want to marry." Tumigil rin sa paglalakad si Marry at tinignan pabalik si Dariel.

"Dariel" pabulong na tawag niya sa pangalan nito.

"Some people, they wait for a very long time just to find the one they will love forever. Some people, sadly, have grown old without even meeting the right person for them. But look at me, Marry .. I'm only 20 and yet, I already found the girl I wat to spend the rest of my life with. The girl I'll be sitting with in our balcony, holding each other's hand while waiting for the sun to set. I'm lucky I already found the girl who'll be the mother of my child. The girl I'd say 'I do' someday. I'm lucky ad blessed because ... I found you already." He uttered passionately.

Hindi makaimik si Marry, pakiramdam niya ay may nakabarang kung ano sa kanyang lalamunan at hindi makapagsalita.

Dariel was looking at her with so much love it felt so surreal. Her heart was racing in her chest and it was aching with so much love for him.  Dariel then cupped her face with his hands ad gave her another one of his sweet smiles.

"Alam mo yung kantang may lyrics na 'some people wait a lifetime for a moment like this?" Tanong ni Dariel.

Napatango na lamang si Marry at hindi na makapagsalita.

"Maybe, this is what they call 'a moment like this' .." Dariel started as he took Marry's hands in his. "The moment where you are with the one you love while holding her hend like this.." Dariel gave her hand a gentle squeeze, making her realize everything was real. "Looking at her straight in the eyes knowing she loves you exactly the same way of how you feel about her. Some people wait a lifetime for a moment like this, Marry. For this perfect and wonderful moment of being with the one they cherish and love the most."

"Dariel" Marry wasn't able to hold it anymore. She busrt into tears and he hugged her tightly. "I love you so much, Marry.." Marry hugged him a little tighter before stepping out of the embrace and planting a soft kiss on his lips. "I love you, too, Dariel." She replied.

Dariel took out a small and simple white band gold ring out of his pocket and kneeled on his one knee. "Hindi ko man kayang ibigay ang pinakamagandang singsing ngayon at alam ko na hindi pa ako ganoon kahanda ngayon sa responsibilidad pero ... Uhmm .. W-will you m-marry me .. someday, Marry?" Kinakabahan niyang tanong.
