"Hey there, Jess. It's been a while." Said a voice to my right. I looked over to see Warren Scout standing beside me. A few years back, me, Daniel and Casey (not so much her) hung out with him. For some reason, he fell out of the group.

"Oh, hey Warren. It's uh, yeah it's been a while." He took a seat in the empty desk beside mine.

"How've you been?" He asked, his eyes scanning me from head to toe. Warren had dirty blonde hair with brown eyes. He had a long-sleeved white shirt on and faded jeans.

"Good. I've been good, you?" I grabbed my mechanical pencil out of the front pocket of my bag.

"Not too bad," he paused. "How is your Dad?"

I smiled, "he's better. It's been a few years," going on ten, "since the split so he's had a while to come to terms with it."

"That's good, I always liked your Dad. Didn't deserve what happened." He gave me a lopsided smile.

"Yeah, never did." He really didn't. He had always been so nice to my Mom, but then the fighting happened. As caring and loving as my father is, he isn't one to step down from a fight. It never once got physical, always staying verbal, but words can hurt more. And not only did I lose my mother, but my brother too.

Don't get me wrong, I loved my mother, I really did, but she had hurt my father by filing for the divorce and custody of one of us. Yes, me and my father had a better relationship, I had been a daddy's girl for the longest time, but my relationship with my older brother Tristan was good. Great.

We got along, he would even hang with me and Dani every once and awhile. Playing video games and sports with us. I hate that she had to take him with her, but in court, my Dad got me, my Mom, him. What makes it all worse is that I haven't seen either of them since. Plans would take form, but then something would come up and they would be cancelled.

"You good?" Warren asked, scrunching up his eyebrows.

"Oh, yeah. Sorry." I laughed lightly. "I was just remembering something."

"Okay, just making sure." He smiled and then the teacher, Mr.Overholt, walked in.

"Okay, class. Textbooks open, I want to go over a few things before we start..."

I dropped a few things off at my locker before heading to art after the bell rang. Warren kept cracking quiet jokes about Mr.Overholt or something in the textbook that had me laughing. I swear, I almost got kicked out of the room.

"Hey there, Jess." Casey walked over to me and placed her arm around my shoulders as we walk into the art room. "How was biology?"

"Good, you wouldn't believe who was in there with me," I stated.

"Oh yeah," she quirked a blonde brow at me. "Who?"

"Warren Scout. The one we used to hang with before he fell out with us." I grabbed a seat behind one of the easels in the middle row, she sat on my right.

"Really, Warren?" Her eyes held a mischievous glint to them. "And what did you guys talk about?"
