And there in the Bayou, Elijah found himself alone. He now called Tatia, but she was nowhere to be seen. He sighed and walked in the cabin.
There, Hayley got up from the chair as she now saw the Original get in.

"Hey" the hybrid said seeing him, obviously glad, but with some sadness in her eyes.
"Hello" Elijah looked at Hayley not believing he was seeing her.
"So, you are -" Hayley got tearful, stopping in the middle of her sentence.
"Dead" Elijah finished for her.
"Yes" Hayley sighed a little, "How - why?"
Elijah now explained why he chose death alongside his brother.
"Yes, you have always thought that it was your responsibility to save his soul" the hybrid remarked.
"I - tried -" Elijah said, going suddenly quiet. He turned to the window looking out, obviously lost in his thoughts.
"You did your best" Hayley then said.
Elijah took a deep breath and turned to the hybrid.
"I made so many bad choices, made so many mistakes."
"We all did. We are not perfect. Far from it. I have an endless list of mistakes, regrets - but now we have to look forward"
"Forward to what? What is this - place? It feels like this is some strange magical trick- first - I saw my - Tatia. She said that she's been watching over me? And she brought me - here"
"Because, you are still not in piece. Your soul is still kund of - let's call it - in a wondering mode" Hayley explained.
"Wondering mode?" Elijah looked at the hybrid puzzled by what she had said.
"Yes. You will understand. This is something what they call a limbo. I am partly in piece, but not completely. I can't rest, because I left too soon. And though Caroline is doing a great job, I can't rest. I still have to look after her."
"Oh! And it was all my fault - I -" Elijah now felt terrible. He still felt tremendously guilty for having stooped Klaus and inadvertently caused Hayley's death.
"Please forgive me!" tears now fell down his cheeks.
Hayley now walked over to Elijah and placed her hands on his face and said, "This was not your fault."
"How is it not - you would have been alive if I was not there - if I'd never made this wretched choice to have my memories erased"
"Elijah - that was a good choice. You carried too much for too long. You deserved a break. You deserved to have a life away from the co-dependent, emotionally wrecked brother, the family, who sucked you dry. Everything else was just unfortunate circumstance."
