A Dark red Audi A7 sport, whipped its bonnet off a sleepy town road through a draped blue opaque plastic sheeting hung between scaffolding on the side of a building. The female driver shifted the car under a historical building under stalled renovation and parked it inside. A well-built man secured the plastic sheeting with pins in the corner eyelets for privacy behind her.

The man walked after the driver with long sweeping steps full of purpose and a pinched in eyebrow. 'SvetLANA!' His voice grew with her carelessness evident in her pursuit of English cakes from a nearby bakery.

Svetlana twisted on her toes right away swinging the bag of cherry Bakewell tarts. The man stood toe to toe with her and looked down on her dark roots between layers of her white to blond edgy undercut hair. Svetlana looked up at him. He said 'We decided to lay low and move tomorrow, you shouldn't have interrupted me, the man out there is a loose end', he pointed to her bag of cakes 'what's this about...' he points to her face and stops his chatter when he feels a sharpness under his groin. The man's hand turns to a fist and then relaxes out again; he sighs and walks off thinking better of it.

Svetlana slips her combat knife back into its sheath up her sleeve. She was still pissed at Gull for burning the motorcycle she stole earlier, no cakes for him she told herself. Svetlana climbed scaffolding to the top of the building that hugged the interior walls, her army issued boots clattered on the metal poles that echoed in the large empty space. She reached the top and opened a flap where she stood under a compound dome with eight thin supporting columns on the outside. The wind gently sifted between the slats and under her eye-level hair strands. That rush of cold air above the exposed ears sent her mind back to her skinhead army days serving mother Russia.

Gull gave the Audi a once over checking for any marks or flats. The car was spotless. He opened the boot picking out brand new number plates and began to fix them on ready for the morning commute out of town. Behind him another A7 model in black pulled through the draped blue plastic sheeting, a short man in a suit got out, the driver spun the car around and turned the engine off.

Gull, 'Mr Four, there was really no need to come all this way, we were leaving tomorrow'.

'I had to see the man who shot my only nephew, what am I to tell my sister? "sorry I am so pathetic in my work I can't give you a name?", no... I have to rest my eyes on you Gull. Now tell me there was no other way, tell me my nephew was just too out of place'. Mr Four said standing straight and flat, motionless with dead eyes.

'He was out of his depth, he fell into a trap, I did what needed to be done in the moment to protect our investments'.

'Are we compromised?'

Gull turned and looked up to Svetlana who watched from overhead. 'There was an agent left alive, but we are in the clear'.

'No, no, no, but of cause, you are not in the clear, you are in hiding here until tomorrow for your hunt to die down. Hand over the device now and cut your tail, or my sister might just want her revenge after all'.

Gull gave him the USB device. Mr Four took one more glance up at the strikingly beautiful Russian woman looking down on him, turned then left.

Svetlana rushed down the scaffolding and stood over Gull whilst he screwed the front number plate on. 'Who was it? Our employer?' she asked.

'Not your employer, my employer, I am your employer Svet, don't forget it'.

'So we're done, you can pay me now'.

'No, we would have been done if you gave me time to kill that agent, now I have a loose end to clean up, the job is still live until he is dead'.

Svetlana punched down on the car hood in frustration. 'We left on time as planned, just as you planned Gull, it's not my mistake!'
