In a mass of fury against her philandering husband, the mother goddess Hera struck the earth. The earth roiled, churned and from it rose the voracious Typhon, the first of the monsters.
His lower body was that of a serpent, his torso, that of a man. From his shoulders spouted numerous serpent heads each with it's own distinct sound. Typhon was so immense they say his head brushed the stars.
There came a time that Typhon the only monster, grew lonely and appeared before his mother with the desire for a mate. Enraged by the fact that her creation was unhappy, Hera reached into the creatures torso, violently tore out a rib and flung it into a mountain. From the rib and Hera's magic formed the second monster, the cunning Echidna. Much like her mate, Echidnas lower portion was that of a snake and her upper body was that of a woman, she had golden hair and scales that glistened in the light. Her body was said to be so massive that it could wrap around the earth.
In time, Typhon grew bored and sought to overthrow the gods.
Zeus cast Typhon and Echidna out of the realm of Olympus and into the void of space, but not before Typhon took a piece of the realm with him as he fell.
Typhon and Echidna used the piece of the realm they took to forge their own.
The two monsters took the core of a dying star and forged it with the piece to make their own realm, the realm of Echtyph and populated it with their children, the first monsters. The Minotaurs, goblins, Cerberus, cyclopes.
There came a time when Typhon discovered The human realm of earth and sought to send his children to conquer it. To his dismay, his children were not able to enter the realm due to a magic barrier preventing monsters from entering.
Enraged, Typhon went to earth himself, his might allowing him to pass through the barrier. Typhon took a more human form to mingle with the common folk and find the source of the barrier. Soon, he came across a beautiful woman named Elaine.
Elaine was a powerful sorceress who was responsible for the barrier that kept the monsters away. Elaine handed Typhon a rose as a gift of acquaintance. Elaine introduced Typhon to earths customs and traditions. Typhon became enamoured by not only Elaine's magical prowess, but also her love of dancing, music and visual arts. Typhon would watch for hours as Elaine would create beautiful works from glass sculptures to marvelous paintings whose beauty spanned the infinite vastness of universes. She taught him to dance on the shore of a moonlit beach to a slow tune of hearts. Typhon took Elaine to the stars and together they skated and danced through constellations.
One night, Typhon took Elaine to a mirror and the reflection revealed Typhons true form. Elaine saw Typhons grotesque physique and shrugged.
"You're beautiful." She said.
Having never heard those words or been shown such kindness, Typhon became smitten with Elaine. The two were an unlikely pair but couldn't be happier together.
Elaine later gave birth to ten children; Annabelle, Raijudo, Kylyn, Jihaas, Benagher, Larken, Heidi, Oliviet, Andro, and Sonnenblume. each child inheriting either a monsterus form from their father or incredible magic from their mother.
Enraged by the treachery of her husband, Echidna traveled to the human realm and killed Typhon and his mistress. In her dying breath, Elaine put a spell on her children, preventing them from being touched by Echidna and sealed Echidna away into the depths of her own realm.
