Hey guys, just started writing this; there is only a little bit and I haven't done any editing, but tell me if you like it!

I sat up in bed and sighed with excitement. Today was the day! I had waited thirteen years for this day.

I jumped out of bed and shed my nightie. I grabbed my neatly folded uniform and gently pulled it on. I made sure my collar was down and my skirt wasn't rumpled. I kissed the logo. I lived for school and now I was finally going to college!

Jo, my sixteen year old sister walked into my room. She looked amazing with her blonde hair long and wavy and her eyebrow piercing glittering. She was wearing the exact same clothes as me and yet she looked gorgeous and I just looked plain.

"Heard of this new action? It's called knocking." I said, letting venom seep into my voice.

"You know that's not the way I roll, Dolly Dawn" She answered, unfazed by my less than friendly tone.

I looked in the mirror. My curly brown hair was tied up in a ponytale and the only jewellery I wore was a gold pendant around my neck. It looked plain and simple on me, but Jo would have been able to make it look terrific on her. The only thing I like about my appearance are my blazing blue eyes.

Jo and I look nothing alike, shes tall and has a great figure; I'm short and have red cheeks.

"Jo, can you make me look good?" I sighed.

"I am awesome but I don't think I can perform miracles" She laughed at my shocked face. "I was just kidding Dawn, lighten up. I'll see what I can do."

She smeared on some sticky lipgloss and lined my eyes with a special pencil. She played with my hair for a while until she finally settled with a simple bun. Then she pulled up my skirt so that you could nearly see my bright pink knickers.

I looked in the mirror and almost cried. I looked horrible, like a little girl playing with mummy's makeup.

I pulled the uniform skirt down, brushed out my hair and wiped off all of the lip gloss. When I tried to wipe off the eyeliner it just smeared and I ended up looking like a panda.

Jo sighed. "Gosh Dawn you look a real mess. You couldn't have just lived with how I made you up?"

I started to cry. "Jo, you wouldn't understand, it would have looked pretty on you but I just looked like a try hard"

Jo sighed again and pulled me into the bathroom. She put some warm water around my eyes and wiped everything off with a facecloth.

"Well at least let me do your hair."

We walked into her room and she made me sit on her bed. She plugged in her hair straightener and started doing my hair. Afterwards I glanced in her mirror. I didn't look nearly as good as Jo but I didn't look that bad either.

"Girls! Breakfast time!" Mum shouted from the kitchen

It wasjust Mum, Jo and I these days. Dad left us five years ago, I don't remember him, but Jo said he was a bastard anyway. We also used to have an older brother but he killed himself when he was sixteen, I wasn't born; Jo was only three. Jo said he had blazing blue eyes.

Mum sometimes gets depressed, she says that everyone is leaving her and cries. The worst times are when she doesn't cry, she just goes stone cold, she doesn't even notice that Jo and I are there. When that happens we have to go to our Grandma's house. Grandma is Dad's mum and she doesn't like Mum much. I don't like Grandma, she smells like cabbage and always makes us clean our feet before coming into her house.
