*beep beep* the ear splitting sound of my alarm clock wakes me up. I open my eyes to the blinding light seeping through my open window. Every morning, before it gets hot and sunny I grab my journal from the bottom of my sock drawer and make my way to the oak tree. I get up, and pick out my outfit for the day.

Daliah's outfit:

Blue crop top with an infinity sign

White skinny jeans

Black vans

Afterwards, I run downstairs and open the door to the warm, summer air. It's peaceful and calm this morning. I take a deep breath and head towards the woods. As I walk through the trail for about 5 minutes, I finally come to a clearing, my favourite place. My dad used to take me and Nash here when we were about 10 years old. Now my parents are working and Nash and Hayes are traveling the state for god knows how long. So it's just the oak tree, my journal, and I.

I climb as high as I can to my favourite branch and sit down. You can see the gorgeous pond and city streets behind the woods. I look down at the tree and see the writing on the bark. ' D+N=BFFS '. I smile at the thought of us when we were little.

*FLASHBACK*

(10 years old)

"Daliah! Daliah!" Nash whispered through my open window. We left our windows open at night so we could climb out and talk on the roof.

"Yeah?" I whispered back. Trying not to wake mom or dad.

"Come on!" Nash said quietly. "Let's go."

I climbed out on the roof with Nash very carefully. We laid down on the roof and watched the stars.

"You're my best friend Daliah." Nash whispered to me.

"You're my best friend too, Nash" I said back.

Nash smiled to himself.

*next morning*

"Wake up wake up!! Let's go to the oak tree!!" Nash yells as he barges into my room.

"Okay I'm coming" I exclaim back as I get dressed. We run down stairs and out into the cool fall air. As we sprint through the trail, we can see the clearing and the big oak tree that I know too well. We race up the tree into the normal branch we sit in and start talking and laughing as usual. Nash carved 'D+N=BFFS' Into the tree with a big rock he found by the pond.

"Best friends." I commented "Forever?"Nash asked me. "Forever."

*FLASHBACK OVER*

"Forever?" "Forever." It just kept running through my head. I run my hand over the rough wood. It seems like just yesterday when we were little. Now I'm 16, the same age as Nash. I leave my window open every night just in case. I miss him. I really do.
