"Wake up," my mom shakes me awake.
"Whatttt?" I moan stuffing my face into my pillow.
"Do you want to go to school or not?" she asks.
"Yes!" I sit up and look at my unpacked clock beside me. 5:00 am in the morning.
"Get dressed and don't go back to sleep," she says exiting my room. I get up and walk over to my closet. I pull out a pair of jeans and a plain shirt. I check the temperature and grab a sweater on my way downstairs. My dad is making bacon and eggs for breakfast, I sit down at the table across from my mom. Today is the first day of school. We have to be on the plane by 8:45 am as it takes off at 9. We quickly eat our breakfast and pack all my stuff in the car before heading out at 7:00.
The hour drive to the airport is uneventful and boring. When we get there, there is a woman in a security uniform walking around calling, "Any new students going to Greenfield Academy, private gate over here! Over here!" I glance at my parents before picking my way through the crowd with them trailing behind me.
"You're new?" she asks and I nod nervously, "my name is Alexa, and I will be joining you on the flight today!"
"Hello!" my mom says when she finally reaches me, "I am Sam Harris, and this is my husband Michael!"
"You must be Skye then!" Alexa guesses. I nod again, and she leads the way towards the private gate. An airport official follows us with all my luggage. The waiting area is large for 4 people. Two girls are already waiting there for the flight. We pile all my stuff on a row of seats and sit down to wait. At 8:30 a blonde haired, green eyed, fair skinned, girl rushes in the room, with her luggage behind her. Her designer outfit is based on blue shades and she is wearing boots with very high heels. She is frantically texting someone on her phone and squeals in delight when she looks up.
"Jade!" she yells and runs over to a dark skinned, black haired, blue eyed girl. Jade also has very good fashion sense. Her outfit, obviously by the same designer, is in purple shades and she is wearing the same style of shoes.
"Chloe!" Jade gets up and meets her halfway. The two girls embrace and talk in very fast French.
"J'ai manqué tu beaucou! Il y a beaucoup aller sur maintenant!" Chloe says. I missed you so much! There is a lot going on right now!
"Pareil ici! Regarde là-bas!" Jade whispers and points at me. Same here! Look over there!
"Vous êtes parle environ Skylar?" Chloe asks turning around to stare at me. I shift in my seat a little starting to feel uncomfortable. Are you talking about Skylar?
"Oui! Elle est assise par là!" Jade exclaims. Yes! She is sitting over there! They both start to make their way over to me through the luggage. I quickly avert my gaze to the visible runways through the glass walls.
"Bonjour! Je m'appelle Chloe! Tu dois être Skylar!" Chloe holds her hand out to me. I stand up and try to translate it in my head. I never had very good marks in French.
"Anglaise, Chloe, anglaise," Jade reminds her.
"Sorry about that! Hi, my name is Chloe! You must be Skylar!" she speaks with a heavy French accent. I shake her hand.
"Yeah, I'm Skylar! Please call me Skye!" I tell her. She must be my dorm mate!
"I have been waiting so long to meet you! And when I found out or flights were booked at the same time I told Jade immediately of course!" she exclaims really quickly in one breath. I'm going to have a hard time keeping up with her.
"I'm Jade!" Jade says(also with a French accent).
"I'm Skye!" I tell her.As we are talking Alexa calls us over to board the plane. I walk over and join my parents. Once we are on the plane, I sit down in between my parents and pick up a brochure for GFA in front of me. I get lost in the pictures and descriptions in front of me, and before I know it, we land in Sunset Valley. There are guides waiting for us when we get off the plane and 4 giant limos for our luggage. The drive goes by quickly and the green fields with white picket fences soon come into view. The taxis pull right up to the dorms and staff come to help bring our stuff into our rooms. A blond teacher wearing the staff uniform(Navy pants/skirt, white blouse, navy jacket with school logo on the back, and yellow tie) walks out of the girls dorms with a clipboard in her hands. Approximately 14 students follow her towards us(Wearing student uniform, Navy pants/ navy and yellow skirt, white blouse, navy jacket with school logo on the back, and yellow and black tie).
"Names?" she glances up as Chloe and her parents join us.
"Chloe Earle and Skylar Harris, Mrs.Ginsberg," Chloe answers for both of us.
"Ah! Chloe, how nice to see you!" Mrs.Ginsberg greets her warmly.
"You too!" Chloe answers while smiling.
"Room 29!" Mrs.Ginsberg says. All 14 students immediately rush forwards to pick up our luggage and carry it to our room. Chloe's luggage is a quarter of the quantity of mine because most of her stuff has been moved into the room from last year. I pick up a box and my parents to the same. Chloe picks up one too. We enter the elevator in shifts and finally in the last shift I reach room 29 on the fifth floor. The room is bare except for the single beds, and desks on either side of the room. The walls are a blueish, greyish colour and the floor is a dark brown. One wall is a window that lets in lots of natural light. There are two doors opposite each other that lead into large walk-in closets, and on the right side of the room there is a door that leads into a large bathroom. All of Chloe's stuff is on the left side of the room, and all of mine is on the right. The students leave and I pull my bed stuff out of a large box. I make my bed and drag all of my bathroom stuff into the bathroom. Chloe is in there setting up her toiletries so I join her working in silence. I go back out into the main room and enter my closet to help my parents put my clothes away. After I'm done unpacking almost all of my stuff, I join mom and dad to walk to the stables. The road up to it is packed with trailers and trucks and the grounds are loud and busy. There is a frantic feel to the air. Just outside the barn there are six coaches with clipboards waiting for the students. I approach one and she looks at me expectantly.
