Hermione POV:
"I don't care if you're in Slytherin or not, You're still a Mud-blood." Pansy's shrill voice calls from across the common room, an older boy, Marcus Flint, laughs along with her. "Would you shut the bloody hell up?! What's her blood status matter, Pugface? She's one of us." Theodore calls out from my left, he and Blaise having finally made their way to the common room. "Blood Traitor." She sneers at Theo, then turning her eyes to Blaise she asks "What's your opinion on it Mud..." Blaise cuts her off before she can even finish her sentence. "Say the M word one more time and I'll make you wish you hadn't." Her smile fades when she realizes what's going on, I've make friends with pure bloods, meaning I could be forced into her family's inner circle. "Blood Traitors, Both of you." Pansy sneers once more at Blaise and Theo before following Marcus out of the common room. "Ignore her, she's never been the brightest star in the sky." Theo whispers to me, offering me his arm as to escort me to breakfast. "You and your pure blood manners are going to kill me." I inform him, but, nevertheless I accept his arm."Why do the two of you stand up for me? It's making you look bad in the eyes of your friends." I ask Blaise and Theo, each of whom roll their eyes at my question. "Those aren't our friends, Hermione." Blaise starts, then Theodore continues, "Those are the children of our parents friends, We've never really had an understanding with them anyway." Their words comfort me, but I still worry about the fact I don't quite fit in with the rest of my house. In the few weeks we've been at school, I've found my friend group... and they truly are the best I could ask for. I'd just be nice to have a few girl friends as well. I can't exactly ask Blaise and Theo how my uniform looks, or The twins and Adrian to help me do my makeup, I sure a hell can't ask Harry or Lee what the magical way to handle a period is... I wouldn't trade my boys for the world, but, sometimes I can't help but wish I was on better terms with Pansy, or Astoria. "Mione, the light of our bitter outcast lives!" Fred exclaims upon our arrival to the great hall.
"Freddy! The bane of my existence, yet I still hang out with you!" I call back with a smirk. I love the twins, but, we're a bit mean to one another. "Would you two knock it off, I'd like to enjoy one breakfast without playing referee to a boxing match." Adrian groans, hiding his face in his hands. "Anything for you, Dri." I grin at him, he hates his nickname when anyone but me uses it, so, naturally, I use it all the time. "Real cute, Mia." He reply's with snark, his smartass is showing. "Hey! None of that! It's food time!" A voice calls from the entryway of the hall. "You need to go to your own table today, Harry." George rolls his eyes, pushing Harry in the direction of Lee. "I don't like them, they are weird and Lee's too busy flirting with Cho Chang to notice me." He laughs, taking the seat in between the twins. As the twins are picking at Harry, Blaise slips into the seat next to Adrian and offers me his hand... I'm not helpless, I don't need them to help me do everything.
"I still don't understand you two." I tell him, casting a look at Theo as well, as I accept Blaise's hand and allow him to help me over the bench. "We were brought up to be as respectable as possible, and it's our duty as young men to help a lady when we see it fitting." Theo says in a robotic voice, casting a glare at the head of our house, and his Godfather, Severus Snape. "Oh." I say in understanding, if he acts without thinking of his manners, Snape will report back to his parents. "Is he not supposed to be looking out for Malfoy? I get he's your Godfather as well, but Malfoy needs the most watching over." I snark after a moment, allowing my eyes to drift over the the piggish bigot of a Gryffindor named Draco Malfoy. He'd been the first of anyone here to call me the M word, though he'd received quite a beat down from Lee that day, he's not yet stopped using the slur. "Drake's a Gryffindor... Nothing Uncle Sev can do to help him." Theo snorts, his cold glare settling on the back of Malfoys platinum blonde hair. "You and Blaise best not tease the little menace anymore." Adrian's silk like voice washes over us, cutting our conversation short.
*Time Skip: First Flying Lesson*
"Up." I command, my broom instantly flying up into my outstretched hand. I'm the first of any of us to get my broom up, seeing as this is the one class I have today with the Gryffindors instead of the Ravenclaws, I can rub it in Malfoys nose that I at least can get my broom to listen to me... I'll show him what this little Mudblood is made of. We only get about ten minuets of class time before one of the Gryffindor boys, I think his name's Neville, injures himself and has to be taken to the infirmary. "I think I'll just keep this for myself." Malfoy says with a smirk, bending down to pick up something his housemate had dropped. When nobody moves to stop him, I find myself speaking up. "Give it here, Malfoy." I calmly say, outstretching my hand for him to drop the ball in. "Or what, Granger?" He taunts, mounting his broom and flying into the air. "Give it here Malfoy, or I'll knock you off your broom." I growl, mounting my broom and following him into the air. The chase is short, I land minuets later with the ball clutched tightly in my hand, my eyes firmly locked on the walkway leading towards us.
Professor Snape is hurriedly speeding towards us, His hand already signaling for me to come to him. "Miss. Granger, Follow me." He commands, swiftly turning and walking back into the castle. "Let us know how it goes, Mione!" Theo calls after me, he and Blaise sharing worried glances. Following Snape, I begin to form my explanation in my head, I just hope I don't get expelled. "Professor, I need to borrow Mr. Montague for a moment." Snap snaps at the poor DADA Professor after opening his door without so much as a knock. Graham Montague gets up without waiting for the Professors permission and follows Snape into the hall. "Yes, Professor Snape?" he asks, a tone of interest in his voice when his eyes land upon me. "You'll need to tell Warrington he will no longer be serving as the teams temporary seeker. I'm giving the position to Miss. Granger." Graham is just as shocked as I am, we look at each other, both our mouths agape, before realizing Snape wasn't joking. "Yes, Sir." Is all Graham says before heading back to class. "Don't disappoint me, Miss. Granger."
*Time Skip: Dinner*
"Snape did what?!?!" Blaise yells as he, Theo, and I sit down with the twins and Adrian for dinner. "Hush. No one is supposed to know until the first match." I whisper just loudly enough that he and Theo can hear me. "Got it." They both reply, before the three of us begin digging into our food. Halfway through dinner, Graham Montague approaches me and whispers in my ear; "Practice tomorrow at six. I've had my parents ship a new broom for you to use, so find me in the common room at midnight and I'll give you your broom and uniform... I hope you like the number seven." As Graham walks away, I catch Fred glaring holes into the back of his head. "Behave." I growl at him, gently slapping him on the back of the head. "Oi! No need to get violent, Woman!" He snarls at me, causing Blaise to shoot him a warning glance and Theo to crack his knuckles. "Better watch how you talk to her, Those two might just get you before she does." I hear Adrian whisper to Fred with a laugh... Such loyalties between us.
