After getting done with ShopKo, we walk through the mall towards the TJ Maxx, using the cart from ShopKo to haul around the items. We walk through the large entrance, blinking to adjust to the bright lights. As the boys stand around the entrance, looking at all of the furniture and popular items, I gravitate towards the back corner of the store.
I look through the decor items, seeing a couple of things that I want to buy. Remembering the color of the bedspread and curtains, I grab some things I think would go good and put them into a basket; mostly gold accented decor and some black and white pillows. I make sure to grab a few picture frames as well; I foresee a lot of picture-taking happening in the near future.
I move over to the back wall, seeing the wall art. There is a piece of art that catches my eye; a black, white and gold marble. I instantly grab it, holding it as I walk. (Pictured Above; Pinterest)
I keep moving hurriedly so the boys aren't able to find me before I can purchase the items myself. I end up grabbing a few blankets and a wicker basket; I quickly realize that it will be a lot easier if I put the items from the basket into the wicker basket. Doing this makes it a lot easier, since I am also lugging around a painting.
I make a quick detour to the clothing before going towards the register. I end up finding a pair of high-waisted black skinny jeans with some holes in the thighs and knees and a light blue Calvin Klein hoodie.
As I'm waiting in line at the cash-register, I grab a new phone case and a leather notebook. The number above the cashier closest to the door lights up, a voice saying "cashier number one" from the circular speaker above it. I quickly walk to the cashier, leaning the painting against the counter and grabbing the items from the wicker basket and setting them up on the counter.
"Hi there! Did you find everything alright?" The cashier says as she starts scanning the items.
"Yes, I did. Actually, I found too much, but I couldn't resist!"
We both laugh. I hold up the wicker basket, placing the barcode outwards to make it easier for her to scan, doing the same thing with the painting. As she places the bags on the counter, I grab the handles and put them directly into the wicker basket.
"Your total is $42.64". I reach into my pocket and grab my debit card, inserting it into the chip reader. I press the appropriate buttons, also withdrawing $40 in cash. Once the machine beeps, I remove my card, placing it back into my pocket.
The cashier hands me my cash and receipt and smiles brightly at me, "have a nice day!"
I smile back, placing the strip of paper into one of the bags, grabbing the painting and basket from the ground.
"Thank you, you as well!"
I walk out of the TJ Maxx, seeing Paul sitting on a bench outside of the entrance.
"Hey there! What'd you all buy?" he asks, standing up and gesturing to the basket and canvas.
"Some decor items and blankets," I say.
"Here - let me bring this all out to the van. The boys said they wanted to look most of the stores, so I foresee us being here for a while longer," he laughs and takes the basket and canvas from my hands.
I thank him, watching him walk out of the door and towards the van.
