Peeta the heartbroken Victor

"Daddy hurry!"

I wake up with a voice whispering in my ear. I rub my eyes and see my little Jazmin smiling and holding Zeus, "daddy wake up! I'm hungry! So is Zeus!" I chuckle and sit up, "okay sweetheart. Come on. Let's go make some breakfast." I get out of bed and stretch. Jazmin runs out the room and goes downstairs, giggling. I laugh and go downstairs.

I see her playing with the puppy, running around the table and living room. I walk into the kitchen and open the fridge. I take out an egg carton and milk. I close the fridge and put the things on the counter. I take out the pancake mix and a bowl. Jazmin runs into the kitchen and hugs me, hiding her face into my stomach. I stroke her hair and start making the pancake batter.

After the batter is ready I grab a pan and turn on the stove, "Jazmin go watch some cartoons." She gasps, "I wasn't allowed to watch cartoons in my other house. Do I have to?" I look down at her and smile, "yes you have to. Now go. Daddy is busy." She giggles and runs to the living room. I pour some batter onto the pan and hum softly. I hear the television turn on and hear clicking. I smile and flip the pancake. I then hear cartoon characters talking. I keep cooking and look up. Jazmin was giggling and hugging her puppy.

I finish cooking breakfast, eggs, bacon, pancakes, and orange juice. I set up the table and Jazmin walks over to me, "is the food ready?" I nod and put food in two plates. She sits down and stares at the plate, "so much food..." I laugh and sit across from her, "yeah. I think you must be starv-" She starts eating and I chuckle, "slow down." She slows down and looks at me, "thank you daddy." I never get tired of her calling me daddy. I smile and start eating, "you're welcome darling."

After we eat I put the dishes into the sink and sneak up behind Jazmin. I pick her up and run upstairs, "Jazmin want me to brush your hair?" She shakes her head and giggles. I pout, "why not?" She kisses my cheek, "fine. But don't pull my hair." I get to my room and put her on my bed, "I'm not. Stay here." I walk to the restroom and grab a hair brush. I walk back to my daughter and undo her ponytail. I start brushing her brown hair and she sings softly

I grab her hand and take her to the restroom. I put her in front of the mirror and kneel down, "you look like Katniss Everdeen. The love of my life." I say quietly and my eyes fill up with tears. Jazmin looks at me and hugs me tightly, "daddy...what's wrong?" I hug her back and smile sadly, "baby girl...please listen and you will see why I cry for her." She nods and sits on my lap.

I start telling her about the first day I saw Katniss. I tell her about the bread, the Games, the berries, the hijacking, how president Snow tortured me, everything. I finish telling her and she starts sobbing, hugging me tightly, "oh daddy! I didn't know that! I can't believe she left you. I don't want to see you like this." I kiss her head and stroke her hair, "it's okay. You're making me happy. I always wanted kids. Now you are my daughter." I get up and hold her in my arms. I walk out the restroom, "I'm gonna change so we can go buy you clothes and toys. Then we can go to the park." She smiles and wipes her eyes, "okay. I'll go watch cartoons." She gets out of my grip and runs out the room, going downstairs.

I chuckle and grab a blue shirt and black pants. I take off the clothes I slept in and put on the new one. I put on my socks and shoes. I find Jazmin's shoes and walk out my room. I go downstairs and see her giggling at the TV. I smile widely and go sit next to her on the couch, "here." I put the shoes on her feet and stand up, "let's go my princess." She turns off the TV and gets off the couch. I grab her hand and walk to the front door, "can we take Zeus?" She asks and looks at the puppy. I laugh a little, "sure." She grabs her puppy and I open the door. She runs outside and giggles. I walk out and close the door, "daddy hurry!" She whines and grabs my hand.

We start walking and she carries her puppy in her hand. We get out the Victor's Village and start heading toward the stores. We bump into Katniss and Gale, "hi Ms.Everdeen!" Says Jazmin. I stare down at my feet and shut my eyes, "come on darling. Let's go buy you nice clothes for school." Jazmin nods, "okay daddy! Wait! Ms.Everdeen did you used to be with my new daddy?" I sigh a little and look up at Katniss, "Jazmin..." I whisper. Katniss smiles a little, "yes. And I love your hair. Just like mine." Jazmin nods, "my daddy says he cries for you. Last night I heard him crying in his sleep. He was also saying things like, "I'm sorry Katniss. I miss you." and a lot of stuff. I think daddy has a broken heart." She puts her small hand on my heart and looks up at me. I look down at her. I hear Katniss start to talk, "w-well...yes. We used to be husband and wife. But for the TV. That's it." I look up at Katniss and pick up Jazmin, "you told me real." I walk away before I did sometime stupid.
