Marcela Marcelo also known as "Selang Bagsik" (Ferocious Sela) & "Henerala Sela" (General Sela), was from Malibay, once part of Palanyag (now a part of Pasay City). Marcela was born in 1869, her family was wealthy & owned a betel nut farm (Pasay was famous for them). She married Quirico Lugo of Aguho, Pateros & bore him a son.

Marcela is described as a fierce fighter, who fearlessly faced the ranks of the Spanish army. It is said her husband was captured by civil guards, she remained completely silent & didn't take any action, as her husband was lead away. It's also believed she intrusted her son to her sister, than became the leader of a group of Filipino rebels, that raided enemy trenches. Her fearlessness inspired fear in her enemies.

Marcela was killed during the Battle of Pasong Santol, in Cavite, on March 21, 1897.

An image of her with flowing hair, was printed on certificates of members of, Veteranos de la Revolucion. In Pasay City, an elementary school is named after her & there is a bust of her in the city plaza, at the beginning of C. Jose St, which is Pasay's main road.
