— "„ ( ##; 3:3:3 self-assessment! )
oh, the familiar semi-circle of a formation all nine members sat in for the hundredth time since the start of the show, inside of the practice room that has become nabi's least favorite room to be in. she rested her head against her hand, which was resting on ehr cross-legged knee. she was watching the other members all look around at each other, something she was also silently doing.
she picked at the hem of her white sock that was peeking out of the top of her sneaker. she was tired, no, exhausted, being up almost all last night to practice with her mission members, jeongin and jisung. they were trying their best to get everything perfect to avoid any elimination that could be coming later today.
"are the preparations going well?" chan asked, his concern heightened as elimination was threatened a few days ago.
the elimination threat from a few days ago had put everyone on edge, but chan carried the weight of it differently. as their leader, he couldn't afford to show how much it affected him, though his furrowed brow betrayed his worry.
nabi stood up, placing her soda off to the side by the cameras to avoid hitting it during their performances. chan, hyunjin, and seungmin were the first to comply to the self-assessment. their set up wasn't long and before nabi could get herself to focus, the music started and the voices rang through the practice room. their performance flew by and by the end of it, nabi had many opinions, not bad, but simply things that stood out to her. the beginning felt a little flat and she noticed how hyunjin kept looking at the floor while he sang, both topics that should be fixed before the real evaluations. however, overall, she enjoyed the vibe and choreography of it all.
second was changbin, minho, and felix, a trio she was excited to see perform. she was focused, just like all the other members were. minho had a rap this performance and making sure he executed it perfectly was very important. at the end, nabi's expectations weren't met, not that she was the deciding factor, but she wishes the choreography gave a little more life and that the rap was a bit more aggressive as well.
last, her trio was up for the self-assessment. she stood up with a nervous sigh escaping her lips and shook her hands as she bounced on her toes twice. as soon as their track started, something felt wrong. putting the choreography together with the singing in one long performance in front of people, she knew she would mess up. but, she didn't. though her hands were sweaty and her eyes were darting around at the beginning, she doesn't give herself enough credit at the fact that when the music starts she puts on a performance. nabi switches, in some way, from a shy girl to a powerful singer and she doesn't even realize it herself.
the group sitting on the floor, watching, clapped for the trio as they ended their performance, just as they did everyone else. the three lined up beside each other, opposite of everyone else, as they waited for the constructive criticism.
