Eugene- Preppy, school's hot Asian guy/popular squad leader

Keith- School's nerdiest guy/leader of the nerds, kind of self-conscious of weight because of eating habits

Ned- Hopeless romantic ever since puberty, school's sweetheart but has relationship struggles

Zach- Newbie baby-faced freshman, always busy

"Oh my gosh! How could anyone handle all of this?! Why would I sign myself up for all of these things?! I'm never going to have time for anything!", Zach complained aloud as he slammed his locker closed. Once he had his oversized backpack on and multiple supplies in his hands for his next class, he accidentally bumped into someone. Immediately he started apologizing. "Oh! I'm so sorry! It's my first day, and...." "Excuse Me!?", the seemingly rude voice had snapped.

As Zach looked up, he came face to face with possibly one of the most intimidating people he had ever met in his lifetime. "Look Freshie! I don't know where you come from, but I do not recommend that you mess with me. I am a whole 'nother storm that you do not want to chase!", the scary man had said as he whirled around, motioning for his posse' to follow suit. "Here, let me help.", a kind voice had said as they bent down to help Zach pick up his stuff.

Zach seemed to have started high school off with a bad start, but had finally received a positive turning point. "I'm Ned.", the kind student had said with a smile after everything was straightened back up. "Thank you, Ned, for helping me pick up all my stuff after that mean guy.... well, I don't even know his name.....", Zach trailed off in thought. "Eugene. That was Eugene Lee Yang, someone that I bet you've learned you need to avoid. He wasn't always that mean y'know. Looking at it now, I would've never believed that we were best friends back in Middle School.", Ned had said, looking off to the distance as if remembering some better times. "What happened to him?", Zach asked, feeling bad that someone had turned out so cruel.

(I personally apologize to Eugene for this scene. I love him, but I also love drama) "We..... broke up.", Ned replied sadly. Zach did not expect that at all but had no time to question further as the first-period bell had just rung. "Sorry, I've got to go", Zach said, finding that he was apologizing once again. "Wait, before you go, tell me your name!", Ned said as he watched the student begin to hurry away. "It's Zach!", Ned heard faintly as he heard a door slam, and began walking back down the hallway

Luckily, Zach had gotten in a seat just as the teacher was calling his name. "Here", he managed to get out as he had to rummage for his binder needed for the class. He found that his teacher had given them a test as their immediate first assignment for school. Of course, he was not prepared, but the student next to him seemed to be. As he was checking out the student next to him, he saw the name Keith sewn onto their backpack. Keith looked like a really smart guy, and someone he could use as a friend. "All eyes on the test", the teacher warned as he gave Zach a warning glare. Getting a little bit creeped out, Zach began his test and finished right when the teacher called time.

"That looked like you struggled a little bit. Y'know, I've actually begun a tutoring service if you're interested. I don't charge much, and I'm free whenever you are.", the guy named Keith had said to me. "..... I think I might consider your offer.", Zach said, not expecting the guy to be so straightforward. "Well, you definitely wouldn't regret it.", he replied as the teacher began talking again. Once class was over, Keith slipped Zach his card. "Contact me if you need anything.", he said to me as he then disappeared into the hall.

Deciding to go to his next class, Zach took a look at his school map. "Lost?", a familiar voice had asked. Zach turned around to be met with Ned once again. "Actually, I think I am. Do you know where room 205 is by chance?", Zach asked as he then tried twisting his map in different directions. "Here, I'll lead the way. My class is actually next door in room 206. You have Mrs.Hudson right? Yeah, you'll love her. Best teacher I've had yet.", Ned told Zach as he led him down a good number of hallways. They had then finally got to their destination. "Thanks again, Ned. Honestly, you have probably been the nicest and most helpful person I've met so far.", Ned said in true appreciation. "No problem. See you in 45 minutes.", he said as he went inside his classroom.

Once Zach had found his seat, his thoughts had seemed to be interrupted again. "What the heck! Not you again! Ughhhhh! Why couldn't I just not have been in a class again with people I can actually tolerate!", Eugene complained to his posse' loudly motioning at Zach. "Okay, listen. I've had enough of your crap! It's one thing to treat someone badly, but when It's a Freshman that has barely been able to make it through his own life, that's just sick! I'm tired of this bull, and I've had enough! So why don't you and your gelled minions go take your negativity elsewhere because I am done!", Zach said as he then moved across to the other side of the room and sat in silence.

Completely and utterly shocked, Eugene didn't know what to say or do. No one had been brave enough to stand up to him until today, but he knew that he would have to make that kid pay for humiliation like that. He wouldn't let his posse' know how weak on the inside he secretly felt. No one would know how Eugene truly weak he thought and felt, not even lowly Freshman. After Zach had drummed up some attention to himself, he kept on pretending to ignore it as he continued to read the book he had pulled out until class started.

"So, how was it?", Ned had asked. Zach had honestly forgotten that Ned would be waiting for him but didn't mind it at all. "How was what?", Zach had then asked, slightly confused. "Your class?", Ned asked in a questioning manner, now slightly concerned. "Oh, right. Well.... Eugene is also in it.", Zach said as he then checked the look on Ned's face. "Hah, not so good then I take it. I will admit that I did hear some yelling through the wall, since I sit in the back and all, and had become a little worried.", he said as he had accompanied Zach down the hallway. "That was me standing up for myself.", Zach told him, in the realization that he was quite proud of himself. "Wow, your first day and you've already manned up. That's something to admire.", Ned replied as he became more interested in Zach. Ned had never admitted it to himself, but he had always been drawn to the confident.

"I mean, I don't ever really go off on people like that, but when it comes to bullying I just can't stand it. You've got to take care of yourself in a tough world like this, y'know?", Zach had explained as he continued making his way through school. That was the last thing he was able to say before another bell cut him off. "Hmm, my class is the other way, and it doesn't seem like I'll be seeing you again until lunch, so just keep standing up for yourself. Never lose faith, and look for me once you get lunch!", Ned called out behind him as he hustled to class. Zach then became surprised that that Ned guy seemed to know more about their schedules then Zach did himself.
