??? POV (you can probs guess😂)

Pain, it's the way our body tells us something is wrong. We might not like it, but pain is our friend.

I used to tell myself, 'Everything is going to be okay. Maybe not today, but eventually.' but right now, I believe pain and failure will still haunt me in death.

Failure to escape.

Failure to see my wife and kids again.

The pain of knowing they thought I was gone, of never been able to catch so much as a glimpse of them.

I want them to know I tried, I tried to get back to them, but I couldn't.

I wish they knew I spent my last minutes on the run, trying to see them just one last time after three years.

I didn't die the first time, but maybe, this time I will.

I was on a stretcher, somewhere in Seattle. She still worked here. I checked. I just hope they get me there on time.

"Grey Sloan." I tried telling the paramedics. "Grey Sloan!"

But all that was audible was a gargle, for a metallic tasting liquid pooled in my mouth.

Blood, I wasn't going to make it in time. If only they would hurry up!

I found my self praying, then darkness engulfed me...

Merediths POV

I was stood outside, waiting for an incoming trauma case.

Behind me were about 15 people, all waiting for the carnage.

We were told to prepare, it was bad.

The familiar wale of sirens and screeching of tires brought us all to attention as the ambulance skidded to a stop before us.

"John Doe, late 40s, Obvious head and neck trauma, internal bleeding. Went unconscious 5 minutes out." The paramedic explained in one breath while opening the door.

I couldn't see him but just by the look on Owens' face, I knew it was bad.

A few seconds passed and he was still stood in shock; it wasn't like him to freeze up in an emergency.

"Owen!" I shouted, yet he ignored me. "Owen!" Again, no answer.

"DOCTER HUNT!"

This time his head whipped around to face me, a sad, worried expression on his face. "Deluca, do you mind escorting Doctor Grey inside." He said in a calm voice.

"But!"

"Deluca! Escort Doctor Grey inside immediately."

My eyebrows furrowed in confusion.
"Excuse me?" I ask, a tone of disbelief in my voice.

"Mer-"

"Do you not think I can't handle it?!"

"Meredith-"
