Chapter Four: Friends?

Indra was staring at Nanami with a look that the young girl couldn't decipher. Yet, it made her feel ill-at-ease, although unconsciously.

Nanami had absolutely no idea what to do now. She was like petrified under Indra's stare. He was very intimidating, even if he was only a child.

Something then crossed the girl's mind. She really hoped Indra (or Ashura) hadn't talked about her to their father. Otherwise she would be in trouble. All of her brother's plans would fail. And she didn't want that to happen. But she couldn't ask them directly. She had no way to know for now.

"Why would your brother let you hang around with us? He doesn't even know us." Indra pointed out though he didn't look that suspicious anymore.

Actually he does. He knows you much more than what you think.

"But he knows me. He knows I would never spend my time with people that are not trustworthy."

"Yees!! Of course Nii-San!!!!" Ashura cheered. 

"That's an argument." Indra replied solemnly. 

"Why are you being so serious Nii-San?" Ashura replied somewhat upset. 

"Because we don't know her." 

Nami could feel that it wasn't such a good idea. She didn't want to disobey her brother of course, but she thought it better to wait and try later. She had already managed to gain Asura's trust which hasn't been complicated at all. But as for Indra, it would be a whole different story. 

"Sorry I shouldn't have come. I'd better go now." She said solemnly as she began turning around.

"No!! Don't leave now! We've hardly had time to et to know each other!!" Ashura cried. 

But Nanami ignored him and began walking away without looking back. 

"Nii-San!!! Do something!!

Indra wasn't particularly happy at her staying with them. But he didn't like to see his little brother sad. 

"Wait." Indra called after her, his voice somehow still stern. "After all, you saved my little brother, even if you didn't have to do it. So I guess I owe you something." He added as his voice seemed to soften. 

Nanami stopped walking as she analyzed the situation again. After deep thinking again staying with them wouldn't be so bad an idea. 

She turned around swiftly. 

"It's okay. You owe me nothing. I did it because that seemed to be the only thing to do in that situation. Anybody else would have done the same had they been in my shoes.

"No I don't think so. Look how my little brother's friends went to hide. That couldn't have done anything. Or maybe an adult could have stopped that beast. But that's all." 

"Yeah! The way you stopped it was so awesome!!!" Ashura exclaimed with stars shining in his eyes. "How did you do that?!"

"...."

Nanami wasn't even sure herself at that moment. But now that she had learned her true identity and who her mother really was she could understand. Still it would be bad to tell them about her abilities and powers. She didn't even know them well for now, except for Byakugan. She really had to remain s discreet as possible. 

"It's my brother. He's the one who taught me that." She lied.

No. Talking too much about her big brother wasn't a good idea either. 

"I mean, he taught me to fight so that I can defend myself when I am on my own." 

Well, that sounded less suspicious, and much more logical and legitimate. 

"Whooaahhh.... Do you hear that Nii-San, that's so great..."

Asura's behavior really made Nanami feel ill-at-ease. She wasn't used to that at all. She found it strange. The two brother looked so different, it's as if they were not brothers. She thought all siblings looked alike. But apparently not. Unless those tow were the only exception. 

Indra's way of looking at Nanami seemed to have changed after that revelation. 

"I bet she's stronger than you Nii-San!!!" Asura exclaimed agin. 

Hmm! 

"No, I'm not that strong you know. I began to learn not that long ago so I'm still a beginner." Nanami quickly said as she feared Indra's reaction. 

"Well, let's see that." Indra said as he seemed to be in a bad mood. 

That was a catastrophe for Nanami. She had never learned to fight. And she feared what she could do unwillingly. She had to find some kind of excuse as soon as possible.

"You are not going to fight against a girl, are you?" She said out of the blue. 

"Normally I wouldn't. But from what you have just told us you are not just any girl." 

Nanami had a bad feeling about that. But now she couldn't just run away. And Indra seemed to be strongly determined. She thought he owed her something. But she didn't owe him anything. 

"But what if it lasts too long?" Nanami said again as she couldn't find something more legitimate to say not to spar against the long-haired boy. 

"That's not a problem. We will set some rules so that it won't take too long." Indra said confidently.

"Ooohhh... Can I be the referee??!!" Ashura asked his big brother, his eyes gleaming once again.

Indra looked at his brother somewhat surprised.

"Hmmm.... If you wish. If that is no problem for you. Nanami."

"Not at all." Nanami replied calmly.

"Perfect. So here are the rules. There will only be one round. And the first one who falls to the ground loses."

Nanami thought they would decide about the rules together... But it's not as if she had any other choice.

"Alright."

"Great! Then you can start when you are ready! Ashura told them both enthusiastically as he moved robje inthe right position.

Indra positioned himself a few meters away from Nanami.

"I am." Indra said.

Nanami could feel her body tense. She hoped there would be nothing wrong. After thinking again, she intended to let him win. That was the best thing to do. Anyway, it's not as if she could spar for real. Let alone win.

"So am I."

I'm sorry about it being short...TBH I had planned to make rather short chapters in the first place so that I could try to update more often...

So I apologize too for taking so long to update. I'm currently working on another Naruto story so it's a bit complicated. 

But I'll try my best to update this story more regularly :)
