Coming Home

“Pssssss Marshall.” whispered Fionna in the dead silence of a warm and windy  summer day, she was used to seeing the “oh so great”  vampire king hang around her house at random times of the day and night, since she had found out a while back that the tree house was originally his back in the “olden days” as Fionna had liked to call it. During the day he was usually sleeping on the couch, Fionna’s bed and or Cakes bed even though he didn’t fit too well. He didn’t really care as long as there was some kind of cushion for his batty butt.

Fionna was pretty glad to see her baby-blue skinned friend though. She hadn't even been around the tree house lately due to her mother, which seemed to be becoming a softer topic for her by the second. She was never acquainted with her real mother or father since the day she was born. On the day of her birth she was left alone in the woods only to end up making boom-boom on a leaf. But despite the boom-boom, Fionna would consider that day one of the greatest days of her life, because on that day she was found by her adoptive mother and father in the woods. Her father told her that even though she had a poopy leaf stuck to her booty he gave her a big kiss on the cheek because he knew that from that day forth, Fionna would become his lovely buck-toothed daughter.

Sadly, the encounter with her biological mother wasn't as beautiful.. Her mother didn’t want a thing to do with Fionna.. And Fionna only got that message when her own arm got ripped off from trying to keep her mother from getting away from her again. Fionna was glad it wasn't as gory as it should have been, but this was only due to the fact that her cursed flower sword (that had been wrapped around Fionna’s own arm, never being able to be taken off) had grown into a super mega arm that latched on to the back of her mom’s get away  vehicle into space. Her mom had made the decision to speed up even though she saw Fionna in distress. Fionna even swears that her mother was watching the second her own arm got ripped off, but the former mother didn’t do one single thing about it, there wasn't even an expression of empathy on her face. She almost looked gleeful that she had gotten Fionna off her tail.

But Fionna felt over that situation now, at least for a moment since her kitty sister Cake had taken her out to talk about it and do fun things with her. Cake knows Fionna better than anybody, and she had made the prediction that it would be best for Fionna not to see to many people, and to just hang out with somebody she was close with, and a family member so Fionna could not forget who her real family is and what it means to have one.

Fionna blurted out “Marsh-” then cut herself off mid-word realising that he hadn't seen her flower arm yet. It was a rose that seemed pretty cool looking to her but since it was a rose sticking out of her arm-nub instead of of, you know, the rest of her arm. More to the point Fionna didn’t really feel like seeing Marshalls reaction at the moment. She was to tired from her hangout week with her sister. They barely slept at all because they would have fun and laugh in the day traveling around Aaa but in the night they would crash at some friends house that lived in the area at that time and talk for hours on end about life and junk.

Anyway it wasn't only that she was tired, it was also the fact that she didn’t know how  Marshall would react. He had seen her all banged up from adventures and stuff but it was never anything like this, something so permanent. She had gotten some wicked scars on her body from all sorts of things, but this is something that she will never be able to forget about. It was a handicap, and she would be reminded of it every day when she held her sword wobbly, or when her writing wasn't legible (not that she wrote much in the first place) or even when she reaches out for something and realizes she can't grasp it as her rose petals brushed against the object she had intended to obtain. How Marshall would react to this, she could only guess. He didn’t seem to keen on seeing her with just a black eye and some scratches, so Fionna took the educated step and decided to not wake him just yet.

She sat there on her knees for a while, studying the black haired boys features. His pointed nose, pale oval shaped face and the way he has tiny little scars from accidentally piercing his lower lip with his yellow-ish fangs one to many times. Fionna was glad to have so many friends, but especially having a close group of friends that she was actually worried to tell about her injuries because she didn’t want them to worry. She would usually just smile and giggle because she would be so giddy with joy that someone cares about her enough to yell at her the way they do. Its not like Marshall yelled at her that much anyway, she would get him irritated playing around and junk, but it was usually never anything serious. Well, accept for one time when he got pretty angry and loud, he wasn't yelling though, he was singing. Fionna was so surprised that day, and it got pretty intense because Marshall always got real passionate when it came to his music. He was singing about how she thinks that Marshall is “just her problem” or some stupid junk.. The lyrics made Fionna feel really bad and honestly, extremely confused.  But thats a whole situation she would rather not get into at the moment, just to tired.

“Ok  im poooooooped” Fionna yawned as she kicked off her shoes and went upstairs to her bedroom. She peeled off her sweaty and dirty clothes and threw them on the floor. Her blue shirt was so stained with the elements of the world (and a little goat demon blood) that it  barely even look blue anymore. It was more of a (what Fionna would like to call) blue-raspberry puke. The same comments went with her skirt as well but just a tad bit darker. She had actually taken a shower due to the watchful eye of her sister, who always nagged her to take care of her hygiene. But she probably needed another one after wearing those clothes for so long. Fionna just figured she would take one when she woke up from her nap, so she pulled on her fuzzy onesie pajamas  and looked out the window. It was daylight outside but Fionna figured a nap wouldn't hurt. Fionna spaced off for a bit standing there and looking out the window then focused back in on her reflection in the glass. She realised that her left arm was now covered by a floppy piece of fabric. And that it would end up becoming a nuisance in the long run so she tied it up into a knot, leaving the flower to stick out of the end of the knot. Its not like it was going to damage the flower, Fionna had tried to pull, rip and cut off the flower from her arm but with no success. She was glad she tied it up because now the flower was covered by the furry fabric of her pajamas, and could no longer prick her with its rosey thorns. She could sleep in total comfort.

She plopped down on to her bed and pulled her rabbit skinned bunny ear hat off her head. Then smacked her head down and let her hair splash over her pillow. She played with the singed blonde ends of her wavy hair. She had once had hair so long, it dragged on the floor. She only kept it that long because her sister Cake had loved to play with it from time to time. But that all ended when she got in a situation where her hair caught on fire. She had to slice it off with her sword or else she would have gotten burned as well.

Fionna could no longer think about her sliced off hair or her ripped of arm because, once she got comfortable under her animal skin covers, that were lazily pulled onto her almost lifeless appearing form she was knocked out cold.
