Phone rings
It's 7:30 am
I got a message from my friend saying, "Have a safe trip and hey send me postcards. I'm going to miss you." When I see a message from a friend it just makes my day, but not everyday. It was early and the morning and I was complaining because I didn't want this day to start. All I can say is I could read people's mind. I know mind blowing right? My parents don't know , my friends don't know nobody knows. It's like a secret that I could keep to myself and it's something nobody knows about me. As I was getting up, my mom walked into the room with breakfast. As my mother walked in she had something in mind and it was, "I will not let her go so I have to come up with an idea for her to stay." While she was standing there she was like, "Is everything okay." I said, "Yeah, why," and she said, "I'm asking because your like smiling."
"Can I not smile," I said.
"Of course you can but next time don't look at me that way ever again," she said.
After all that happened she then later asked if I was pack and I obviously wasn't. So I had to lie that I was already packed because if I wasn't she would be yelling at me. So as soon as she left the room I got up, skipped breakfast and started to pack the things that I really wanted to take.
I was thankful that my flight wasn't until midnight so I had a lot of time to get all the stuff that I need and the stuff I want to take to my new home.
When she walked in I was surprised because she has never brought breakfast up to my room. She said,¨Good Morning sweetheart I hope you're already packed.¨ ¨PACKED for what,¨ I said and she said,¨To go on your trip.¨ Obviously, I had to say yes because I didn't want her to yell at me. So as soon as she left the room I got up, skipped breakfast and started to pack the things that I really wanted to take. As I was packing, what really got me thinking was that I'm going to miss my bedroom and every part of the house. While walking down the stairs I sat down, as I sat down I giggled while staring at the door. I was at a college party and came late after my curfew and my dad was in the living room watching his football game. And what was really surprising to me as I walked in was that in his mind he said, "I'm letting this one slide but next time she is grounded." And I was happy because I really thought that I was going to get grounded. I was still walking around and having flashbacks and I was thinking to myself that I'm really grateful for my parents because they have dealt a lot with me and I have dealt a lot with everyone. I'm grateful for what I have and can't wait to make my new life in Europe. A reason for why I'm leaving to Europe is because it has always been a place I wanted to visit and because I'm already tired of people. I'm always dealing with their stuff and that is something don't want to deal with anymore. But at the same time I can't help it I like reading people's minds. Like you know most of their stuff which is a little personal but it isn't my fault that I have a power. It kinda sucked because then you would hear people's thoughts which is scary because you don't know what they have done.
I checked my time it was 10:25 pm I left early because it's better early than missing your flight. As we were on the drive to the airport I read my mom's mind and this is what she said, "I don't want my little girl to leave," and obviously that my mom didn't want me to leave. But not being rude it's for the best because now since I'm going to this new other place that I don't know their language or anything at all I won't be able to understand what they are saying and thinking in their minds. Which is good because I'm getting away from this and that's what I really need for now.
7-8 hours later
I have arrived to Europe. I come to realize how beautiful it is and how their language seems a little complicated. But oh well I can deal with it. It's better here than in America because I won't be able to understand what they are thinking in their minds. As I was thinking I came to a whole new world for me I don't know their language, culture, holidays etc... Since this is an adventure to me why not explore have fun in another place that is not a place you know for so long. All I hear most of the time is, "Salut, comment ca va.¨ And I was mind blown I've never heard anything like this. Which is cool. As I was calling for a taxi the architecture, the buildings and everything around me was breathtaking. I realized that it wasn't a dream it was the place I always wanted to go live in. And it was a dream come true. The taxi was coming, when I got in I gave him the directions to the apartment I rented before I came here. Like they say, ¨always be prepared,¨ and I was. When I arrived to my apartment I was heading to find a job but first I went for coffee. Then I would look around to find a job so I can survive in this beautiful place. Everything around and everything that I was hearing and reading was weird and cool because it's a new chapter in my life.
I have arrived to the French Coffee Shop. When I arrived I sat down and the waiter said, ¨
puis-je prendre votre commande.¨ When those words came out of his mouth my mind was blank. I couldn't resist but to read his mind he said, "She looks so confused that is so funny but I realized that, that was me 3 years ago." And I was surprised that I could read it because I'm in France but that doesn't change the fact that I could read some minds only in my language. I didn't understand. So I said, ¨Do you speak english?,¨ and he said, ¨Yes!" I was thankful he did because then I wouldn't know what to do. As he took my order he went and prepared it and as he came back he sat in front of me.He said,¨What's your name?¨
I said, ¨Harper Johnson.¨
¨What's your name?¨
¨Sebastian Smith.¨
He said,¨It was nice to meet you Harper.¨ I was speechless he took my breath away and it took me like a minute to say it back to him.
¨It was nice to meet you to Sebastian right?¨
¨I just told you my name and you forgot it like that quick.¨
¨I was joking,¨ I said
Well, I should be heading out. As soon I got up he said,¨Hold on I just got out of my break you want a ride.¨ Obviously, I needed a ride and didn't want to let the offer down so I said,¨Yes.¨
So as he was taking me home I could read his mind and he said,"She is pretty cool and I hope she could come for a cup of coffee every day." And I was surprised because we just met. I guess I did make a good first impression.
"What are you thinking about?"
"Nothing." Honestly, I was blushing but I turned away.
"Well it was nice meeting you Harper and I hope we see each other soon." - he said
"Yeah, you too."
It was the next morning and the first thing I wanted was a cup of coffee. So I went back to the coffee shop. When I got there Sebastian came up to me and said," Since you just came do you want me to teach you everything about France?" My question was how did he know. So I had to ask. He said, "When you came yesterday for coffee you looked confused on what I said. The expression you had on your face reminded me that I was confused as you 3 years ago. I had an issue with their language, I didn't really know much about France."
"Wow!! And yes please it would be so much help."
"Well, we can start when my shift is over."
"That's alright with me."
As I read his mind he knew it was great because that is one way he could spend time with me and it would be nice to get to know each other.
Weeks have passed and I had the best time learning and being with Sebastian what can I say it couldn't get any better. I've have learned so much form the classes he has given me and interesting stuff about him. The time that I was spending here was the best because first of all I didn't really understand what people were thinking and that's what I really wanted. I wanted to get away from all that nonsense. I'm happy that I met someone that could teach me and show me around here. If I didn't meet anyone I would be lost. All this time that I had spent with Sebastian made me think that we may be more than friends one day. Well, I hope the time I spend here in France brings me the best adventures and have a best life out here. I will keep my adventures I do here updated.
