Before I forget, I've actually made some changes to chapter IX so if you may, kindly reread the chapter again to understand this chapter please? Thank you!
"M-mother...?" Rie's eyes grow wide and she suddenly covers her gaping mouth with her hand. She turns to look at jimin.
"Y-you...did this?" jimin shrugs, with his hands stuffed in his pocket.
"This is real...?" She walks forward, and she's enveloped in her mother's embrace. Finally something warm, soothing, familiar. Home.
"My daughter..." Mother pulls away, and rubs Rie's arm in an up and down movement. Tears gathered at the corner of her eye as she takes in Rie.
"You've gotten so thin...I am sorry...so very sorry for my inability to protect you, my precious gem..."
"No Mother it's not your fault... mother. Please, I want to go home...Bring me home please...Fi-fi...Fi-fi. How is she? DId she manage to find her way home? Is she hurt?"She grips her mothers hand, her stomach twisting.
"No no love, Fi-fi came back, and is at home safe." Tears of relief roll down the planes of her face, a new knot forms in her stomach and her hands turn clammy when she hears her very own mother breaks it to her.
"Mother misses you very much, your abrupt disappearance had caused me to drown in my own suffering. You have to learn that you would encounter many more obstacles in the future, obstacles that mother could no longer protect you from. Home isn't home anymore. However much i would wish for you to come back with me, you must stay here, for you are safe in the hands of the crown prince." Mother clasps both of Rie's hands in hers.
Safe? Did she hear that right? 'She would be safe here?' Rie shakes her head in disbelief, and her hands drop to her sides. "Mother...mother! You must understand! I...I-I can't breathe here! I'm not living...I'm just surviving. P-please... I am barely surviving mother...d-don't leave me...please..." The last of her words comes out in a desperate whisper.
"I-its for the best for you. Mother cannot protect you..."
"And this castle can?! Mother. I'm going to be...executed in a day. How is this going to help me?!" Mother shot a look at Jimin and Hoseok.
"Is this true?" Hoseok scratches his head while Jimin holds his ground.
"My sincerest apologies. It's not going to happen. I swear my blood on it." He bites the flesh of his index finger and points it up towards the sky where it glistens red from the blood.
"See that it doesn't, crown prince. " her tone dripping with disdain.
"I apologise." Jimin says with a curt bow.
"Lay a weapon on my daughter and you'll soon know the consequence." Mother squints at them both and cut her gaze to the sentries guarding the door. The situation baffled her. No formalities? What power did her mom possess that the crown prince is obeying her open threats which accompanied with an apology?
"M-mother. I don't understand. if you could control this monster of a crown prince, why aren't you able to protect me? What's going on?" Mother widens her eyes as if she'd forgotten Rie had been in the same room all together.
"No...it's nothing like that...I'm just warning them, for your safety. You know...Should they hurt you in any way." Mother clutches both of Rie's hands to her chest.
"You have to trust me. I'm doing this for your own good. You would be protected. Safer in their hands than you would ever be in mine." Her mother pleads. Rie nods unwillingly, knowing that there's more to the story.
It has been 4 hours since her mother had left, and Rie was sitting on the edge of her bed--the bed. This room was never hers in the first place. Why, how could her mother command someone of the highest power? Just what was her mother hiding from her?
A knock sounded at the door. The servant with ruddy cheeks poked her head into her room.
"My lady?"
Rie snaps out of her trance and turn towards the servant.
"I'm here to bring you to his majesty's study." She says with a curtsy.
Rie enters through a pair of heavily ornamented gold double-doors which led to a long corridor with a large stained glass portrait which stretched to the ceiling, illuminating the whole corridor with bursts of color refracted at many angles. It wasn't her first time here before. Rie was turned a sharp right, and entered a warmly lit room, it had long wine colored velvet curtains. The room smelled woody. At the head of an oblong table which was enough to seat 8 people, was the crown prince.
Hoseok lifted a shoulder and offered her a lopsided smile, before moving to jimin's left to pull out the chair for Rie. When Rie is finally seated, The crown prince starts.
"I want to start...by apologizing for my actions and manners of treating you the way I did, prisoner or not. It isn't right to traumatize or threaten you with a sword. I apologize." The prince puts a hand above his heart, his head dipped down in sincerity.
Rie glances at Hoseok and he nods encouragingly at her and nudges his chin towards Jimin.
"I-I forgive you?" She managed to rasp out.
Jimin lifts his head, his warm honey eyes gentle.
"I am truly indebted to you. Let me make it up to you?" She tilts her head.
"Like...how?" The corners of his mouth lift as he reaches for 4 pieces of parchment paper from a drawer.
"I'm going to teach you how to read."
Authors note: I'm sorry it took so long to publish a chapter! I was actually having some troubles in making some changes and stuff like that to both books. I have a strong feeling to change Jimin's personality to be more of a stoic, more fierce kind of person? I don't know...HENCE! I need your help! Could yall please help me decide on his personalty once and for all? Should he be A (40%funny, 40% romantic, 20%stoic, ) B (50%stoic, 40%romantic, 10%funny) comment how yall would like him to be! thank you!!
