Alison Deliingrae liked to consider herself a pretty normal Zenofrabe. I mean both of her parents where descendants of Zenofri families, which meant that she had all of the characteristics of her ancestors: black hair, ember eyes, blue/gray skin, webbed fingers and toes, etc. Also, since it was the new trend to split your hair in the middle, no one knew that her pores are permanently grown that way.

She lived in a nice apartment with a nice view of the overly extensive ocean, she was content with her small space in the Upper City, she nontheless always longed to live in the Lower City, a completetly submerged place that is settled directly under the Upper, hence the names. "If we really were supposed to live over the surface," Alison asked mirror, as she ran her hairbrush through the straight up mess that occurred everytime she woke up in the morning. "then why even bother having gills or webbed feet?"

When the mirror didn't respond, she flopped on her bed, and stared out, through the glass sliding door that lead out to her tiny deck, to the aqua blue ocean that spread to the horizon and further. The feeling that something grand was to happen hit her as she gazed down to the waves reflecting the bright and warm sunlight. Something grand indeed...
