After I dropped Olivia off at Ryden Elementary, I drove around the parking lot of the high school trying to find a place to park. I heard my named being shouted from across the lot. I turned around in my seat to see Andrew flagging me down, "I found a spot for you over here!" I pulled into the spot as he walked along side me.
"Do you mind? I'm trying to park and with you so close to my one side I might scratch a car," I teasingly sneered.
"Well someone's a bit touchy this morning," he put his hand on his heart as if someone hit him.
"I ran into the devil this morning."
"You run into the devil every morning."
"Good point," I nodded. "Hey, thanks for finding me this spot. I owe you one." I started to walk along side him.
He put his arm around my shoulder, "Stick with me kiddo. You'll go places."
"'Kiddo?' I'm four months older than you."
"Yes, but I am taller. That makes me wiser."
I pushed him. "Whatever," I groaned.
"You know a devil I would want to live next to? Chris Evans. Yum! People may think he's not a devil but honey please, with a bod like that you know he definitely isn't a saint."
"Oh my god Andrew," I laughed.
"Don't you pretend like it's not true."
We laughed our way into the cafeteria to find Nikki and Cole snuggled up next to one another and Emily deep in her work.
I was just about to open my mouth when Emily put her index finger in the air and said, "Before you say anything, I can't talk right now. I have a big chemistry project due in a couple days and if I hand it in today I can get some extra credit."
"Well I guess everyone's in a bad mood this morning," Andrew rolled his eyes. He pulled away Emily's work. "Girl you need a boyfriend. Like now, oh my god the only thing that's ever on your mind is papers. Might as well kiss the male gender good bye if you're gonna live the rest of your life like this."
"I don't need a boyfriend. I already have to deal with you," she grabbed her papers back.
"Ouch."
"Why don't you bother the love birds instead of me?"
"Eh, they're too busy loving each other to notice us anyways," I shrugged.
"We can hear you. We just choose to ignore you guys," Cole smirked at us, and Nikki giggled along side him. We all just looked at each other and then bursted out laughing.
"Don't look now Becs. Here comes your lover," Nikki winks. I slyly turned around to see who she was talking about. Matt Walters. I shuddered. Everyone laughed some more and we all made jokes. Matt Walters looked back at our table one more time, shrugged, and went back to talking with his basketball buddies.
The bell rang for homeroom and we all went our separate ways. Cole and Nikki had a quick kiss good bye and she caught up right behind me on our way to lockers.
"So who are you really into Becca?" she nudged me with her shoulder.
"Nobody I guess," I shrugged.
"You're lying. You have to like somebody."
"Not exactly, Nikki. Not everyone is like you."
She slapped my arm, "What the hell is that supposed to mean?"
"It means that not everyone has to like someone all the time just because they can. Andrew doesn't like anybody."
"Are you kidding me? Becca, Andrew likes everybody."
"No Nikki. He doesn't have an actual crush on anyone. He just thinks a lot of the guys in this school are attractive."
She rolled her eyes at me, "Ugh, whatever. I guess you're just too stubborn to tell."
I laughed and shrugged at her. I really wasn't into anybody. No one had that kind of 'pop' to them I guess. No one really stuck out to me. We talked for a while about everything else.
"Oh that reminds me, how are your parents, Becca?"
"Great, actually. They're the same old happy couple they were the last time you were over," I laughed.
"That's great! Alright, well, I'll see ya!" she waved at me.
"Bye," I smiled. I shut my locker, took in a breath, and headed off to homeroom.
