You shifted the bag of groceries in your hand as you made your way back to your place. You gave a few smiles and said a few hellos but you really just wanted to go home and relax after an incredibly stressful day. You rounded the corner and saw a figure standing by your door. When you saw who it was, you sighed and frowned. You walked to the door and pulled out your keys, blatantly ignoring the man beside you. "Hello, (Y/N)." You rolled your eyes. "Mr. Shelby." You respond coldly and enter your house. You went to shut the door but Tommy blocked the doorway. "It's rude to not invite me in." He said smugly. "It's also rude to fuck someone over but you had no problem doing that." He sighed and forced his way in, shutting the door behind him. You walked into the kitchen and started putting things away. "I just want to talk." "Well I don't." "Bloody hell, (Y/N). Will you just stop!" You sighed and turned to look at him. "What do you want, Tommy?" He pulled out a cigarette and lit it before taking a long drag. "I've got a job for you." You stiffened up. "I told you, I'm out. The last time you asked me to do a job I almost fucking died." You said and subconsciously reached for the scar on your abdomen. Tommy saw and an almost sad expression crossed his face. "I'm not asking you to do anything illegal. I know you left that life behind you, so I'm offering you a fresh start." He said and took another drag. "What is it?" He smirked. "I want you to be my secretary." You scoffed. "What makes you think I want to work for you? I've already got a job that pays me well enough." He took another drag and looked you up and down. "I believe you were fired this afternoon, were you not?" You looked at him in confusion before realizing what he had done. You glared at him. "You bastard. Why can't you just leave me alone!" He put his cigarette out and sighed. "I don't trust anyone else." "You're full of shit. Tell the fucking truth for once." He looked at you. "That is the truth-" "But not the whole truth." He searched your face. "No not the whole truth." He looked down at your kitchen table for a seconds before looking back up. "Do you want the job or not?" You crossed your arms and smirked. "Only if you admit it." "Admit what, (Y/N)." "You miss me. That's the only reason I can think of that you would go out of your way to get me fired so I would have to work for you." "Is that a yes?" "Answer me." He ran a hand through his hair. "Alright... Alright... I miss you." He said softly and you smiled a little. "I'll think about it." He frowned. "You don't have time to think about it." You stared at him for a few moments before sighing. "How much are you paying?" "6 pounds, 2 shillings a month." "I want 8 pounds, 4 shillings." "Fine." "Fine." Tommy put his cap back on and started to walk to the door. "I expect you at the office tomorrow morning." He stated before opening the door. "And (Y/N)?" You stared at him as he turned to look over his shoulder. "I'm sorry." And with that, he left the house. You stood there for a few moments, just processing everything he had told you. You placed your hand over your abdomen and sighed. "Damn you, Tommy Shelby."
