Hope
"I imagine..."
The security of a home.
"I don't feel safe."
I used to call Afghanistan home.
There is no home or happiness there.
"Why are we leaving?"
To find hope and maybe a home.
"...I begin to cry."
The tears won't stop.
"Tears traced my cheeks like tiny knives."
The wind only makes the tears colder.
The boat rocked as the wind blew harder.
"...I looked lost."
No home, no hope.
"I didn't have any idea that this would take over my life."
Fires raging, still here waiting
"... a feeling of isolation."
I'm alone.
Where can I find home?
"I stare out the window at the sunless world."
No light. Not even a star.
"...a sense of unwelcoming."
"Let them in..."
Do they want us?
Do they want me?
"... but not lost from God."
He has found us a home.
"No hate, no fear."
Still no home, no family.
The welcoming.
"...means something, means everything."
The shine of the lights of Ogden.
Covering the valley,"...like captured stars."
"We'll be fine."
I know that we'll be fine.
"I didn't have any idea that this would take over my life."
This is family.
Freedom.
The sound makes me cry.
"This is freedom for us."
"...welcome home."
