Kogami : Inside the storm

The night before the storm

It was dark outside. The shadows lurking at edge of the forest as Kogami was taking the watch for the night. Right next to him stood one of his soldiers who was taking in his surroundings. He didn't dare to look back at the rebel stronghold he had been protecting for so long now. He had to be careful not to make any mistakes. They could cost his life like they had cost Sam's. Hours passed and nothing happend only the leaves rustled in the wood.
Then one of his people signalled that it was his turn now to protect them.
So Kogami left his post and took the way back. As he arrived in the meeting room, one of his man was already waiting for him. Liam, one of his best. Even though he didn't look so strong because of his thin body, he was a tough enemy to fight against.
His brown hair came in handy when it came to hiding.
,,Something is up, isn't it Liam?"
He held Liam's ganze as he told him what bothered him so much.
,,It's strange. We haven't heard of the government ever since the election. Kogami, what are they planning ? A special, super, mega attack to wipe us from the earth ? Or do they just want to make us feel save ? It keeps me on the edge. I can't sleep. We have to be ready at any moment.''
Kogami could hear the nervousness in his words. He felt the same. They were planning something. A big act probably. Either meant for them or for the people in the city.
,,I know. You should calm down. That is what they are trying to do. To make us unsure about their next move. I am going to further look into this, don't worry."
,, I trust you Kogami", was all he said before he left the room.
Kogami decided that it was late enough to allow himself to get some sleep. As he layed in bed the images of  makishima appeared before his inner eye. They still haunted him to this day.
But maybe, in some way at least, he wasn't all so different from him. That was what scared him. All this time he had thought that he could get away from his past and go somewhere else, a place where everything was different. He never found that place and he realized that peace was non-existent in this world.
