A Paiger's Story

Chapter 2

    Lis left her classroom for lunch, she checked her purse and didn't find her money. She ran to Amy who was taking her sewing books.

-Amy! I forgot my money at home!

-Well, me too.

-Oh crap, we will need to eat at the school canteen

Amy started to laugh, Leo approached and asked his sister if everything is ok. Amy took a deep breath and made the saddest face she could.

-Oh, my dear brother, I am not ok

Lis made everything she could to not smile at this fake dramatic tone.

-Something really horrible happened

Leo started to get worried,

-Lis and I forgot our money, so we need to eat at the school canteen!

Leo stared and the two females for 1 minute and then left. Amy and Lis started to laugh, Lis took her backpack and said :

-You were perfect Amy

-I know , right ?

Amy finished to clean her locker and the two paigers went down stairs.

    The canteen was under the first floor, so it was much colder than the other places in the university. There were only 5 other Paigers, Lis knew only 3 of them, the first one was Hanae a tall, brown female, she was pretty clumsy, the second one was a small but confident gray male named Januaris and the last Lis knew was a medium white female with the name of Noelsa.The three were second years and the two others looked like fourth years. Noelsa was sitting with Januaris when Hanae was still waiting in the line. The fourth years chose their desert and sat to a small table. Amy and Lis stood in the line with the others. Amy took some tlitam pasta with tomato and Lis just took a "cheesy cucumber" salad.They both approached Januaris and Noelsa's table to ask gently,

-Hum hello, can we eat with you?

Januaris took a bite from his bread,

-Yeah, you won't bother us .

-What he tries to say is that you can sit with us.

Noelsa gave him an intens look and then invited the paigers to sit next to her. A silence installed itself between the students.

-So in which class you guys are?, started Noelsa

Januaris sighed, Amy didn't paid attention to it and responded

-We are both first years, and if I am correct you are second years?

-Oh, yes I'm in the music section, where do you come from?

-Well I come Livonia and Lis from Braks but she is a Livonian. I am actually half Fronch. I lived in Fineland for a little bit longer than her. My parents live in an other city and Lis's parents live in Livonia. Right ?

Amy turned to see Lis but she stayed quiet. The air between her and Januaris was as cold as the deep winter snow. Noelsa and Amy gave each other a look just and started eating.

    Lis finished before everyone, she left the dishes in the box made for it. Amy watched her friend speeding away,

-I'll see you outside.

Amy ate her pasta and joined Lis outdoors. She was sitting in the university's grand garden. The trees were mostly golden and orange shades. Some younger trees were still green and Lis was staring at the leaves dancing in the wind. Amy asked

-Why did you leave so soon?

Lis didn't answer,

-Lis?

When the orange paiger understood that her friend was talking to her, she awkwardly smiled.

-Everything is fine!

They stared at each other for a couple of second and the bell rang. Lis took her backpack and disappeared into the crow of paigers and Amy, slightly confused, joined her classmates. Lis was walking in the hallway of the third flour. She felt bad about avoiding her friend, but she needed some time to think. Lis sat on one of the sofa's and waited for her class to start.

   At class they continued their project on 3D animation, Lis knew what was going to happen. Like everytime her collaborators didn't try to work with and she just sat alone, correcting the animation they gave her. Lis never complained about it, she hated them too and she already had really good friends. The girls that she worked with just laughed, Lis tries not to insult them. On break Lis loosed herself into her thoughts. Something is wrong with Januaris, he is so... Lis saw a group composed of Dominique and his classmates. They were all staring at something. Then Lis heard a high voice coming from the center. It was one of the girls who was in her class. Her name was Anastasia, every male was absorbed by her angelic voice. Lis felt a pain in her chest. She knew what it was, Dominique.

-Lissy ?

Amy was standing in the hall.

-I need to tell you something, let's go the garden.

The friends walked outside, it was much colder than in the noon. At least the wind was slower and the leaves only trembled a little bit. Lis sat next to an old tree.

-You know, I think Januaris has some problems or something. At one point he looked at me and his eyes were empty. I mean, you know.

Amy looked surprised and then dived into her thoughts.

-You remember Hanae? Well I saw her, Januaris and another girl, Anna. Hanae and Januaris looked like under Anna's control. It was kinda creepy how they were obeying her.

Lis slowly blinked and nodded.

-I knew it.

The bell rang and the two females joined their classes.

    At 6 P.M. Lis packed her bag, walked thru the principal hallway to the main platform of planning. She ran to Amy and asked her,

-Hey, wait for me Amy!

-Oh, Lis, there you are.

They both smiled and flyed off the platform to join their common sweet apartment.
