I decided to go downstairs and get a ice pack for my headache and eat something since I was starved. I stumbled down the steps into my kitchen and made myself popcorn and grabbed the ice pack then stumbled back up into my room. I popped on a movie and doze into hung over slumber.
"Madison!" my mom called and I jolted awake,"we're you home all day sleeping again?"
"Yeah," I said not paying her any attention because I knew she couldn't do anything about it. When she grounds me I sneak out, when i go to school I cut classes, it's a never ending cycle with me these days.
"Where did I go wrong," my mom bowed her head against the door frame of my room but my lack of answer made her realize there was no hope and she decided to go tend to the golden child, my sister, Mackenzie. She is just like the old Maddie and for her sake and my moms I hope she stays like that.
*Next morning*
"Maddie! Wake up you're actually going to school today," my mom called from down stairs. Groggily and still with a light head ache I began getting ready. Since a while ago, I stopped trying to look nice for school I just put on a VS hoodie and leggings with some uggs and left my hair natural.
"Are you going to eat?" my mom said as I was about to walk out the garage door to get into my car, "I think you should, breakfast is the most important meal of the day."
Without acknowledging that I heard a word she said i went to the pantry and grabbed a granola bar.
"Thank you, Madison" my mom said, "have a good day at school."
"Mom? Why do we even try anymore. Can't Maddie go live at dad's and make all of them miserable?" said my sister Kenz who I didn't even realize was sitting in the kitchen when I walked down.
Thanks Kenz.
I drove to my friend Christina's house to pick her up for school because she had her license suspended for 6 months on New Years Eve for a DUI.
"You know you could've warned me you were missing school yesterday, I had to take the bus hung over it was awful," she laughed getting into my grey Honda civic.
"I didn't even know that I slept that late and when I checked my clock it was past 1 so I decided not to go into school," I replied back.
"Did you hear we're getting some new boy student?" Christina asked.
"Why do I care again?" I said pulling into the school parking lot.
"Right you don't care about anything," Christina rolled her eyes. We both stepped out of my car and began walking to the courtyard of the school which is where all the upperclassman sat before the first bell rang.
"Maddie!" some one called from behind me. I turned around to see Chloe Lukasiak calling me over.
"What do they want?" Christina called.
"I don't know but it better be important," I said as I walked over to the tree Chloe was sitting under.
"Yes," I said in a clearly irritated voice.
"Look who came to our school!" Chloe said pointing over to the circle of the rest of my old friends standing with a tall brunette boy.
"Who is it?" I asked.
"Gino come over here!" Chloe called over the boy. Gino, the name sounded unusually familiar.
"Hi Maddie," he said staring at me up and down it made me feel very uncomfortable.
Once I saw his face, I realized who exactly Gino was. He was the Gino who was my first kiss, my first love and my first boyfriend all in one.
"Hi Gino," I said blushing which is not something the new Maddie has ever done. Why was he making me feel like this I see the kid once for the first time in years and my stomach is filled with butterfly's.
"Maddie c'mon!" Christina called.
"I gotta...uh...get going, bye," I said and started jogging to where Christina was.
"Who was that boy? He was cute," Christina asked as we walked into the school.
"No one important," I lied.
