Break up

Everyone says you have a soulmate, but what if that soulmate has already passed away?

Just like every other relationship, it wouldn't last that long. You thought he was the one, or at least would last more than a month.

But that was not the case.

Every relationship you've ever had was short and sweat. You wanted commitment and to be loved. You tried dating every gender there is. But every time it lasts about a month. Fun at the beginning, but then you drift into some anxious state where the only thoughts you have are  that no one loves you. It's just this continuous loop of self hate and longing for a partner. Even if you like them you break up with them before the feeling could swallow you whole.

Because of this, many people have been calling you a slut. It makes it even harder to find someone.

Today, though, you would break up with your boy friend. Matt.

He was nice and really funny. Cute too, but the anxious state came back, just like always.

2 hours later

I was waiting at the park for Matt. My heart was already broke and I was choking back my tears. I had to break up with him, but I don't know if I can.

Soon, he is walking toward me. His smile is warm, causing his slanted eyes to crease up in the corners. His black hair, styled back for once, matched his creamy skin color. When his light blue eyes met mine all the warmth left them. His eyes were filled with only concern.
"Y/N? Are you ok?" He asks his eyes searching  for some clue of what I was feeling.
"Matt...I don't think this is gonna work out." I say, dodging his hand as it reached to touch my arm.
"W-what?" He asks, his face full of hurt, "Did I do something?"
"No, you didn't, I just don't think I can have a boy friend anymore." I say with as much apology that I can put into my voice. This excuse was routine. Every break up I've ever had, I've said this line.
"Yeah, ok," he says. I could see the pain contorting his face, even as he tried to his it. Finally after what seems like an infinitely of watching each other, he turns to walk away from me. As  he turned around to walk away from me, he stopped dead in his tracks.

He slowly turns around and looks back at you.
"Y/N, there's someone behind you," he says with fear printed on his face, "he...he's sticking his tongue out at me."
"What?" You ask as you turn around. Was Matt trying to scare me?

When you turn around you see nothing but children running, moms sitting and talking on benches, but no guy sticking his tongue out.

As you turn around to ask Matt what he was talking about, Matt is gone. Just poof, gone.

Confused your walk home and think about what happened. Who could the man behind you be? You weren't sure you wanted to know. Most likely Matt was trying to scare you with his whole disappearance and the "oh someone's behind you" gag.

But what if he wasn't kidding? As you drift into a restless sleep, you can't help but think about Matt's disappearance and the mystery man.
