The next day Matt wasn't at school. It was mostly because of embarrassment, or he just didn't want to see me, I thought.

But my mind kept going back to what he said right before he disappeared. Could that man he noticed be the reason for his absence.

He didn't come back for a month.

Kids in my class started to realize his absence. It also came apparent to everyone that I broke up with him. Oh great, I'm already despised by these people, now I have to deal with them thinking I had something to do with Matt's disappearance, but then again I might've. How do I know that I'm not the one that caused it. He did disappear after he mentioned the man. Or could this all be a big plan to get back at me? Pretend there was a man there than take a vacation so that I think something happened to him?

No, he might be mad, but he would never do that. So what happened?

That next Thursday he came back. we didn't talk to each other for the first half of school. At lunch he stopped by my table and slipped a note into my hand. The next class I excused my self and ran to the bath room to read the note. What could he have written? Was it about the man? Or was it about something completely unrelated to that?

I opened the stall door and and opened the note, in his practiced handwriting it read,

I can't talk here, it's about the man that was behind you. Meet me in the band room at 9:00 tonight. Make sure your not followed. Bring supplies and destroy this note.

Matt.

Fuck. All I'm trying to do is find love and I get dragged into some weird kidnapping story. I'm just a normal girl, what did I do to deserve this?

"Hey mom, I'm going to Grace's house tonight," I said to my mom. There was no way I was going to tell her about meeting with Matt.

"Ok, but be back soon," she answered.

" I will, bye," I said as I grabbed my bag and opened the door. I didn't know what I would need for whatever he was going to say to me. So I packed an extra change of clothes, food, water, my phone, a hoodie, and a picture of me and my brother. I didn't take the car, because I felt the need to be a sneaky bish. So I decided to just go with the sidewalk, keeping to the shadows, of course. In the darkness everything seemed to make noice. I didn't run into anyone so I felt it safe to walk up to the school door.

As I opened the door my mind and heart were racing. What could he tell me that was so important? Did this man really hurt Matt? If he did why would that man do that?

When I get to the band room all the lights are off and it take me a minute to that Matt is standing next to the window. When he notices me he runs over and grabs my hand, bumping into a table in his chaos to get to me.

"I can't explain now, he's coming, we need to get into the car," Matt says as hes running through the halls.

"I hope I'm right in trusting you Matt," I said as we get into a black jeep I've never seen before. It smelled of mildew and looked like it hadn't been used in ages.

"Don't worry, once we get far enough away from him I will explain everything," He said.

"Wait, who?" I asked as we exited the parking lot.

" Your soulmate."
