William and Elizabeth Green, from number 12 Sauropod Row, seemed a perfectly ordinary couple. Mr Green went to work in an ordinary car every day. Mrs Green was an ordinary housewife. They did ordinary things, wore ordinary clothes, but they had a secret.
They looked like ordinary people, but their true forms were an ancient species of dinosaur. As dinosaurs, they were a mere 50,000 years old. As humans they were 27 and 25 years old, respectively. They were prophets who could see into the future, but why had they chosen to spend their future on Earth?
Mr and Mrs Green did not live alone. Their foster children, Harry (10) and Etta, (9) had come to live with the Greens 9 years ago, following the tragic loss of their parents when they were still babies. Albus Dumbledore, Headmaster of Hogwart's school of witchcraft and wizardry, placed the children with Mr and Mrs Green. He was the only human who knew of the Green's formidable magical skills which made them more than capable of protecting the vulnerable orphans.
Mr Green had contacted Dumbledore a month before the terrible events in Godric's Hollow, to introduce themselves to the most powerful, magical being on earth. They met in secret and revealed to Dumbledore their true selves, of the race of Rainbow Faces, magical long-lived dinosaurs, with rainbow colours in their skin. Their purpose in life was to travel the universe helping other magical species fight the forces of evil. Mrs Green had a vision of the evil wizard Voldemort coming back to power and so they had travelled for many months to come to the aid of the wizarding community on Earth.
Two weeks later on a dark, stormy night, Mr and Mrs Green found Dumbledore, a severe-looking woman called Professor McGonagall and a large man called Hagrid on their doorstep. Hagrid held two bundles, one in each arm. The first bundle was a boy, dark-haired, with green eyes and a lightning shaped scar on his forehead. The other bundle was a girl, red-haired, with blue eyes, which would soon turn to hazel brown. At first Professor McGonagall didn't like the idea of leaving the Potters with this strange couple, but Dumbledore convinced her it was for the best.
Harry and Etta had known about their magical abilities since they were six and five respectively. William and Elizabeth had educated them in how to use their abilities. Yet they attended school with non-magical children (or muggles as they were known to the wizarding community.)
They never spoke about their magic at school, only at home. Once they reached the age of eleven, they would be going to Hogwart's and their real lives as witches and wizards would begin.
