The speed of the beam was so fast that Misteeta and Regulus failed to react fast enough and the large rainbow beam of energy hit them and it causes a massive explosion. When the explosion is gone, Regulus then reverted back to his human form and laying down on the ground, covered in bruises and wounds all around on his body as well as Misteeta. They tried to stand up but they miserably failed and they retired as they disappeared in the arena.
