Molly's POV

I'm Molly Collins. I'm eighteen years old, and I live alone. My parents died just last year in a car wreck. I'm allowed to live at home by myself as long as I behave, which wasn't hard. I don't go out much. I work all the time to pay the bills. If I miss a paycheck, I'm in trouble. Ever since they died, I've been depressed, although I don't like to admit it. That's also why I don't go out much. I don't have time, and I'm too depressed. I graduated last year just before my parents died. I know, great start to my new life as an adult. I don't have money to go to college, so I work at a hardware store as a cashier. I know nothing about tools, but where to find them in the store. Why a hardware store? I'm not even sure myself, but that was the only place available that would hire me, so I took it. I've been working there for a little over a year now, so I get a good pay. My boss knows my story, so he tries to help any way he can. He'd bring me home and buy me dinner and helped me grocery shop once. I think my boss, who's young, 30 years old to be exact, had a crush on me. I'm too young for him, and besides, he's not that good looking.

I'll tell you what I look like. I have long blonde hair and blue eyes. I have freckles that cover my face, which I'm very insecure about so I cover them up with makeup. I don't wear a lot of makeup. I have a curvy figure, but I'm not big chested. I'm not flat chested either. I think I'm just the right size. I'm not insecure about my body type, I'm just insecure about my face. People like to say that I look exactly like my mother. I have the same platinum blonde hair as hers and the same icy blue eyes as hers. People say that we're the same person, but I don't see it. My mother was beautiful...forget beautiful! Stunning! She was the most stunning woman I've ever known. Heads would turn when she walked into a room. I wonder how she chose one man out of all that hovered around her. My dad was handsome, but my mother was really something special. Eye candy you could say. I just never believed anyone who told me any of that. I thought it was all bullshit. Me, look as stunning as my mother? Please! I'm as ugly as ugly can be. I don't think of myself as good looking, but I guess that's just the depression talking. I wonder what life would be like without depression in it. I guess I'll never know.

I work twelve hour shifts four days a week. I'm exhausted by the time my shift end. I can barely drag myself into my bed at night. I don't know how much longer I can live like this. I have family that lives in LA that would be happy to take me in, but I refused. I like living in this little town in Oklahoma called Tulsa. My mother moved here with my dad before I was born, so this is the only place I've ever known. I've never been away from Tulsa.

My shift is almost over. I close up almost every time I work. Sometimes my boss waits for me outside when I think he left, which really pisses me off because he could be the one closing. I never tell him though. My anxiety stops me.

I finished helping my last customer of the night, and started to close up. I first had to make sure all the tools and things were in their correct places on the shelves, and then make sure the machines were turned off. I locked up. My boss leaned up against his red Pontiac. He got a lot of money from this business, so he could afford this car.
"Need a ride?" He asked
"No thanks, I can walk."
He creeps me out. I started my ten minute walk home. It was dark outside. After all, it was six thirty.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that I live in an area where there are Greasers and Socs. I consider myself more of a middle class person. I don't put grease in my hair, and I don't wear sweater vests. Socs like to jump Greasers, and greasers get jailed a lot. Greasers are usually in gangs. They're tough and mean. Socs are rich and snobby. I stay away from them as much as I can, but sometimes I get jumped for no reason.

As I walked, bright headlights turned the corner. Those headlights belonged to a red Mustang. Socs drive Mustangs. Those are real tough cars. I started walking faster to avoid a run in, but I couldn't escape them. Five Socs got out of the car. The smell of whiskey and English leather hit me in the face and made my nose burn and eyes water.
"Hey there pretty lady. What are you doing walking by your lonesome?" A brown haired Soc asked.
"I'm just on my way home. That's all. Now beat it!"
I was pretty good for defending myself, but if they started and a fist fight, then I'm in trouble.
"Why don't I take you back to my place?"
"No thanks."
"No one tells me no."
"Well maybe someone ought to start!"
He handed his flask over to his buddy and stepped towards me.
"I think you better come with me."
He grabbed my arm, and I tried pulling away. His grip was too strong and there was no getting out of it. I saw more headlights, but didn't think anything of it. I was to busy trying to keep this Soc from punching me in the face, but it didn't work out too well. I got punched so hard, I saw stars. I fell back on the ground. I closed my eyes and felt nothing.

Darry's POV

I got out late from work again. I roof houses, and I always end up staying late to finish the job. My two younger brothers are probably home wondering where I am. I turned a corner to find a red Mustang parked on the side of the road, and five Socs standing in front of a girl. She was beautiful. I couldn't keep my eyes off of her. She had long blonde hair that shined in the moonlight, and deep blue eyes. I watched as a Soc grabbed her arm. She struggled to break loose. I stopped my truck and got out. The Soc punched her so hard, that she fell to the ground unconscious.
"Get away from her!" I yelled.
"You lookin for a fight?" The brown haired Soc asked.
"No, I'm lookin to stop you from hurtin' this poor girl anymore."
I glanced at the girl. Her eyes were closed. Her lip was bleeding.
"What are you gonna do about it?"
I chuckled.
"This!" I said and punched the Soc right in his face. He fell backwards. He fell unconscious, and his other Soc buddies just looked down at him, then back up at me.
"Any one else?"
They got their friend in the car and drove off. "Didn't think so." I said snickering.
I walked over to the girl. I checked her breathing. Her pulse was good. I picked her up and carried her to my truck. I drove back to my house.

When I got home, I carried the girl inside. My brothers both looked at me like I was insane.
"Who's this?" Ponyboy asked.
"Watch out." I said as I placed her on the couch.
"On my way home from work I saw that she was getting jumped by Socs. They punched her and knocked her out cold, so I figured I'd bring her here. It's cold outside."
Soda looked at her.
"She's pretty." He said.
"Yeah." I agreed.
"Does Darry have a crush on someone?" Soda teased.
"No! Now go on and get some ice for her lip."
I cleaned the blood off her chin and placed the ice that Soda brought me on her lip. I stared at her for a moment. She sure was pretty.

Molly's POV

I woke up in a strange place. A man with dark brown hair and blue eyes hovered over me. I frowned and looked up at him.
"Don't be scared. You're alright." He said in a tone of voice that didn't fit his face at all. He looked tough.
"Who are you?" I asked.
"I'm Darry. I found you after you were punched by the Soc."
There was a bag with ice on my lip.
"Where am I?"
"My house. What's your name?"
"Molly Collins."
"That's a pretty name. He said.
I sat up and got a better look at him. He has darker skin than me. He sure was handsome. I just stared with my mouth wide open. He chuckled and turned away, but I couldn't stop staring at his muscles. It's like love at first sight. He was the handsomest guy I've ever laid eyes on. Wow! Just...wow!
