Cop Car

Not requested. Song fic for Cop Car by Keith Urban. Reader x Taehyeong.

~* Taehyeong's POV *~

I had just picked (Y/N) up for a date. We hadn't even been seeing each other long enough to consider her my girlfriend, but I obviously liked her enough to ask her on a few dates.

"Where are we going?" She asked as I turned onto a gravel road just off of the main road. We drove right passed the "No Trespassing" sign that was dangling from the open gate.

"A place I used to go with my friends. There's a really nice view, but no one's ever out here." I explained, driving slowly up the road. The canopy of trees blocked out the stars, but when we broke into the clearing, there was a mostly empty field and clear night sky. From where we were, we could see planes taking off at random intervals. I parked the truck my father gave me for my twentieth birthday and smiled.

"가자~." (Gaja~.(Let's go~.)) I got out and grabbed a blanket from behind the driver's seat. (Y/N) was already walking toward the tailgate and looking up at the sky.

"이 장소는 아름다워, 태형아." (i jangsoneun areumdawo, TaeHyeong-ah.(This place is beautiful, TaeHyeong.)) I sat on the tailgate and she climbed up to sit beside me.

"I think so, too." I spread the blanket over our laps. "This is where I come when I need to relax. It's calming." She stared at me for a moment before smiling and resting her head on my shoulder. Even in the dark, I was fairly sure that I saw her blush.

"Thank you for sharing this place with me." As she spoke, she pulled her hoodie tightly around herself. I knew it would be pretty chilly tonight, so I wore an extra layer of clothes. I didn't think twice about taking off my own jacket to wrap around her shoulders. There was no doubt that she was blushing now.

"You don't have to! Aren't you cold now?" I shook my head and smiled brightly at her.

"난 괜찮아. You need it more than I do. Your jacket is so thin." (Nan kwaenchanha.(I'm fine.)) I pulled the hood up for her and she smiled. Returning her head to my shoulder, (Y/N) pointed up at a plane that was landing.

"Where do you think they're coming from?"

"China?" I answered quickly, throwing out a random country.

"Wouldn't they be coming from the north?" She asked, turning to look at me.

"Is that not north?" I cocked my head to the side. She playfully slapped my shoulder and laughed.

"바보야!" (Pabo!(Fool!)) Her infectious laughter made me laugh just as much. "That's west!" When my laughter died down some, I pointed to a plane that was taking off. It was obviously heading south.

"Okay, okay, where do you think they're going?" I asked and she nudged my side with her elbow.

"China?" She playfully mocked my answer and we shared another laugh. We played that game a few more times and it felt like we had all night. That feeling didn't last long though.

I jumped at the sound of gravel crunching under tires. I peered around (Y/N) and saw headlights. Almost instantly, a siren sounded and blue lights flared on the top of the car. Police.

"Damn..." I whispered and looked down to apologize. Before I could even say a word, I noticed the bright yet mischievous glint in her eyes. (Y/N) grabbed my hand and jumped off of the tailgate.

"TaeHyeong... Let's run for it. Even if we get caught, it'll make a good story." She grinned and looked at me hopefully. I didn't have long to make my decision; the officers were already parking and getting out. This is crazy. I hopped off of the tailgate and squeezed her hand.

"빨리빨리." (Ppallippalli.(Hurry up.)) I said quickly and we took off in the direction of the trees on the other side of the open field.

"야! Get back here!" One of the officers yelled as they both ran after us. We both ran like hell, and her hand never left mine. She kept looking over her shoulder at the cops. The lights were still flashing bright enough that I could see the grin on her innocent looking face. My eyes were on her instead of the cops behind us.

"진짜?!" (Jinjja?! (Really?!)) The second officer shouted angrily, gaining on us fast. I hadn't realized how close he was until his hand latched onto my shoulder. (Y/N) never let go of me, so it slowed us down enough that the second cop caught up. They pulled us apart and led us back to the car. I knew in that moment that we were in trouble, but I couldn't find it in me to care. It had been fun.

"You guys really didn't make it far, did you? Why'd you even bother? Where's your i.d?" The cop who grabbed me asked as he pushed me up against the side of the police car. I handed it to him before he quickly cuffed me and opened the door for me to sit in the back. I said nothing as I got in.

"Aww, officer! We didn't mean it. I promise it won't happen again." She said sweetly, though the cop seemed unfazed and asked for her i.d. before he cuffed her. "A big, strong cop like you working on such a small case like this? You should be doing something a lot more important than worrying about a couple of stupid kids. I promise that we'll leave, so why don't you just let us go?" She tried to look cute, but her aegyo was fooling no one- except me. Just moments ago, she had been running from the police. She looked so sweet and innocent, but she was stealing my heart. Not long after, (Y/N) slid in right beside me. She was giggling and still had that lively fire burning in her eyes. The cop right outside her door stood where she couldn't get out but he hadn't closed the door yet. He lit up a cigarette and she looked up at him. "Officer? Can I get a light?" She asked in that same cute tone. I knew that she wasn't a smoker, so it made me laugh out loud. He huffed and rolled his eyes before slamming the door shut.

"That was so crazy! I've never done anything like it before!" I confessed through lighthearted laughter. She looked over at me, smiling.

"Neither have I! I've never felt so alive!" She relaxed against the back of the seat. "미안해, 태형아. I hope that I didn't get you into too much trouble." (Mianhae, TaeHyeong-ah. (I'm sorry, TaeHyeong.)) I shook my head and smiled. One of the police officers got into the front part of the car and ignored us as he ran a background on both of us.

"Your dad is probably going to kill me, but if I survive, I wouldn't change one thing about tonight." She leaned a little closer to me.

"Really? Why's that?"

"I know it sounds crazy, but there was something about the way those blue lights were shining. They were bringing out the freedom in your eyes. I was too busy watching you to even be worried about going to jail." She looked down at her lap shyly.

"You weren't so innocent yourself, y'know. You ran with me when you could have easily said no." We both laughed and I could practically hear the officer rolling his eyes as he got out to talk to his partner.

"I don't regret a bit of it either." I lightly nudged her shoulder with mine since my hands were behind me. "I think you were right about this making a good story. Maybe not to tell my parents..." She giggled.

"Yeah, my dad wouldn't be happy at all..." She locked eyes with me and my heart pounded. I suddenly realized that this was the moment I had fallen in love with her. The cops had been gone so long that I almost forgot the situation we were in. I thought I had enough time to steal a kiss, but just as I started to bend my head forward, the door on either side of us opened.

"Okay, lovebirds. Time to go." The officers helped us out and uncuffed us. Right as I thought we had gotten off easy, the cop stuffed a ticket into my hand. "Take this to the courthouse on that date to pay your fine. You're lucky that you had a clean record. Don't let me catch you up here again- and kid... Don't run." He said, closing the rear door and getting in the front. They pulled away and left (Y/N) and I standing next to my truck.

"So..." I began, thinking about what had just happened. "The night is still young... Do you want to get some dinner?" She blinked in surprise.

"Y-You mean, you still want to finish the date?" She covered her mouth with her sleeve shyly.

"Finish the date? Hell-" I laughed and walked over to gently brush her hair behind her ear. "(Y/N), I want you to be my girlfriend..."
