Dad tried to convince me it wouldn't happen again, but I knew better. Mom caught the hints. The way he would fiddle with his wedding ring, and would spin it with his thumb, how he came late from work, all the new presents I would be getting. Soon she started doing the same. Moms car was never parked in the garage. She even went on a "vacation" in Mexico and didn't come back for three months. While she was gone dad had girls over. I knew my place and kept my mouth shut. After mom didn't come home in the third month I left. I got caught up. Soon the attention was turned on me. Mom came home and they both confessed. I came back and stayed. They decided the best thing was to move and start over.
Starting over to them meant something else to me. To me it meant being a family for once and wanting to do things together. To them it meant going to work and earning more money instead of messing around. The move was all the way to California. The house was an improvement, but I didn't want to be acorss the ocean to have to start over. Mom and dad seemed to be happy so I kept my mouth shut.
My keys jingled in my hand as I entered into the schools office. The women sitting at the desk looked over at me and smiled. The boy sitting outside the a door, in one of the three chairs glanced over at me. "Can I help you?" She asked.
"I'm supposed to get my schedule here." I tried to inform her. After I told her my name she typed on the key board with her long nails. I heard the door open behind me. I didn't bother to look over. A body appeared next to mine as I waited.
"You're looking wonderful today Lisa." The boy next to me complimented the attendant.
"Why aren't you in class Tanner?" She asked handing me the schedhule. I turned my head and looked at this Tanner person. He was tall, about 6'4. The brown hair on his head made his brown eyes glimmer. His nose was small and his mouth was very pink. It looked as if he was wearing lip stick but the texture wasn't glossy. His mouth formed a smile once he saw me staring at him. The shirt he was wearing was pink, he probably tried to clame it was Salmon, and hung low because of the v-cut. He had muscles and probably abs but his shirt wasn't tight enough to see.
"Came to bring the new girl to class." Tanners brown eyes examined me from head to toe. "I'm guessing you're her." His voie was deep and soothing.
"Looks like it." I retorted. Tanners mouth formed into a smile. He snatched my schedule out of my hand.
"This is going to be fun."
Tanner and I walked around the school for alittle bit. He showed me where all the classrooms were. Where the gyms, the weight lifting room, cafeteria, and offices were. He also showed me where you can make out with someone and not get caught. Tanner showed my where my locker was. After touring Tanner showed me where all my classes were. Turns out that Tanner and I have 4 classes together. First, third, and sixth, and eigth.
"And we are going to wri-" Ms.Bixler stopped talking once Tanner and I entered the room. Everyone in the class turned their head and looked in our direction. Tanner pinched me on the back and went to his seat. "We are going to be writing about different perspectives." Everyone turned their attention back to the front. "So get started cause this essay is do Monday." Ms.Bixler gestured me to follow her to the front so I did. She showed me where I could sit and informed me on what we working on.
The class ended with a lot of people making me pronounce "water", and "Caronlina" or "how do you do?" I was already done when the first person noticed I was english. There was three boys that seemed really cool. They're Nathan, Andrew, and Ronnie (not including Tanner). By the time we got to lunch Connor was determined to show me where to eat.
"Come on." Tanner wrapped his arm around my waist. I sightly elbowed him but he just clung on tighter. I turned my head and looked at him. He was a good foot taller then me. Tanners eyes flicked down the hall then back to me. My eye followed the hall way and watched as a really good looking guy walked towards us. His emerald eyes made his tan skin stand out. He was really fit. The hem of his sleves clung to his tattooed biceps. His nose was bigish but it fit his face. His hair was black. Not a black in the dark, brown in the light. Black. He was perfect. Tall with beautiful hair and tattoos. He looked towards me and butterflys erupted in my stomach. Keep it cool. Hold eye contact. Pretend you don't care.
Beautiful boy nudged one of his friends and jerked his head towards me. His blonde friend looked at me. They both smiled. Blonde friend winked. A smirk spread across beautiful boys face.
Tanner tickled my ear as he tucked a piece of hair behind my ear, grabbing my attention. He was still holding onto my waist. I turned my head and tried to watch as he leaned and whispered into my ear. "He's trouble." The way he said it sent a chill down my spine. His voice was cold and stern. "Lets go." He grabbed my hand and started to walk away. I could feel the eyes of beautiful boy and blonde friend.
"Really Panda Express?" I laughed at him.
"Hey, it's better than it looks." Tanner sat down across from me. The inside of this place smelled like chicken and grease. There was a couple teens sitting down and standing in line. I looked down at my food. The orange chicken looked greasy and delicious at the same time. "Have you never eaten Chinese food before?" Tanner laughed.
"I don't really eat fast food." I informed him. The last time I ate fast food was when I was staying at my friends house in London about a year ago. Her dad would always walk into the room and ask if we were hungry or if we needed something.
"I live off it" He shoveled food into his mouth. The taste of the chicken and the bacon together was really good. The sauce the chicken was marininated in was thick and sticky. "So how you liking the American high school?" Tanner took a drink from his soda.
"It's not what people make it seem to be." Tanner rolled his eyes at him. "What?" I laughed.
"You just have to go to a party." He continued eating. I looked down at me food and took a bite of my rice. "Wait." Tanner laughed. "Have you ever been to a party?" He asked me. The smile on his face mocked me. He poked my hand with his fork.
"Yes I've been to a party." I squinted my eyes at him.
"Then tell me about it." He flicked rice at me. It shot down my shirt. I felt a tickling sensation as the rice went down my clevage.
I wiggled a little and pulled my bra from my skin trying to get the rice out of my bra. "My dad had a case in Barry and we lived in Cowbridge." I put a piece of chicken in my mouth. Tanner leaned forward and stopped eating while he listened to me." So they left 3 days early so they could go see things on the bay. And in Cowbridge there was this huge field behind Broadway st. So many trees you couldn't see the lights in town if you went far enough. So I told people bring a pump if I bought a keg and they did. So I bought some weed and we built this huge bone fire. Everyone go really wasted and started to jump over the fire."
"Did any one get burned?" Tanner asked. He seemed really intrested in my story.
"No, but there was this girl that got really drunk and started to run around without her shirt on." Tanner and I started to laugh. His laugh was low and really cute. Kind of like a giggle. "Wait." Tanner stopped laughing. "Have you ever been to a party?" I asked. "Huh? Have you?" I took a drink from my cup.
"Yes." He snapped. "I've been to like twenty." Tanner insisted.
"Okay whatever." I laughed.
"Let's go. Class starts in like two minutes."
