It's finally summer, I can't wait! Lately, I've been stressed and sad because my friend Maira is moving school. I'm going to miss her, that means I need to make new friends at my school. I don't really talk to most of my classmates. This year is not my year. Since my dad, Victor was injured in his work, I don't think we're going to Mexico this year. There is not enough money to buy a plane ticket to go to Mexico. I called my uncle Chuy about the situation, he was so sweet that he bought me a ticket to go see him, now I am very happy to go to Mexico. I can't wait to see my aunt Maria and her children.

The big reason why I enjoy going to Mexico is to see the huge yellow sunflowers. My dad and mom can't go to Mexico this year. Finally, the school is over, I will miss school, especially my friend Maira. Mom told me that I was going to go to the airport in a couple of hours, I had nothing packed in my suitcase. It was making me nervous, but I was so excited to go see my uncle and his family. My mom left me at the airport. I have never been alone in an airport. I was scared, I feel safe when I have my family around me. I say goodbye to my mother.

I'm already in Mexico. Uncle Chuy picked me up at the airport, it was a long trip. 3 hours. You could see the bright sunflowers blooming in the sun, it was a strange feeling to see. I mainly spent my time at my uncle ranch helping him grow vegetables and helping my aunt Maria to cook. She taught me how to cook, I cooked green enchiladas. I was very surprised to know that the green enchiladas taste good. My mom does not teach me how to cook because she thinks I play with food. Since it's a sin to play with food, but in reality, it is not because it teaches me to cook; not to play. A week passed, I missed dad and Mom, I called them and they told me Dad could work now. I felt very happy, but I still missed them. It was the morning I woke up with a bouquet of sunflowers that made my day, my grandfather cut the sunflowers for me.

My grandfather went with my aunt Maria and her children to the mall and my uncle Chuy and I, were home alone. He was calling someone on the phone while I was cleaning. My uncle Chuy's ranch is really huge, many people wanted to buy his ranch. My uncle hardly plants vegetables since he works in the city and when I come here, I help him plant some vegetables as much as I can, which is very fun. I had finished cleaning the house. My uncle was still calling the person on the phone, but they were discussing something. What I heard was that some drug dealers wanted to buy the land from my uncle to plant marijuana, but my uncle said "I don't plant marijuana anymore for you or no one." Someone knocked on the door it didn't sound like a normal knocked, it seemed that the person was angry when he knocked the door. I did not open the door because I was afraid. Instead of opening the door I went to my room and watched TV. My uncle was taking a bath, I heard loud noises outside the yard, I did not know what it was, so I checked there were five guys burning the whole field and burning my favorite sunflowers. I was screaming and I quickly ran inside the house. My uncle was still bathing. I was telling him that there are some people who are burning the fields, hurry up! He was getting dressed and quickly runs and it looks like a huge desert of fire. The five men left and left a note it said- "Don Chuy, you disobey my offer and insult a powerful drug dealer." I help you so many times and so you thank me. That's why I burned your beautiful ranch. I send you five men to burned the ranch a symbol of the five-times you insulted me and disobey me." Everything burned as it collapsed. While we run, we cry with fear and anger.

My uncle family has lost everything they owned. I felt like it was my fault. Great memories were burning in fire. It was devastating scene my uncle was crying of anger and sadness as his family joins him, who would have thought that this would happen to them. They are the most humble honest people that I have known they have rebuilt themselves up. Years have passed haven't seen my uncle family in years. I didn't want to see their faces because of my fault their house was burned I should have opened the door to those five men, so my uncle could have talk them and sell have of the land to the narco. 10 years have passed since the accident I've been working as hard as I can to pay them back. They always tell me it wasn't your fault. they want me to go back to Mexico and rebuild those amazing memories that we had. Maybe going back there will give me that joy that I had when I saw those beautiful bright yellow sunflowers.
