When Emily picked up her phone, she saw it was her mom. "Hello?" "Hey sweetheart. I'm waiting in the parking lot for you. Me and Dad need to talk with you about something important. Come quickly." "Ok Mom. Love you. Bye." Emily hung up. "Sorry guys. I gotta go. Talk tomorrow?" Emily said grabbing her bag and standing up. "Ok Em. See ya later!" Ashlynn said moving over to take her spot. Her mom's blue Toyota was there in the parking lot waiting for her. "Hey Mom! Sorry I was at the mall for so long. Turns out I actually watched A Burden To Bear two times because Lindsey and her cronies asked us to watch it with them." Emily said happily as she buckled her seatbelt. "It's fine Emily. We can talk about that later. We have more important things to discuss." Mom said pulling out of the mall and onto the highway.
A little while later Emily was sitting on her upstairs couch. Her parents were sitting on chairs across from her. "Ok sweetie, I need you to pay attention to what I'm going to say. It may not make you very happy." "Oh no..... What's he gonna say?? I hope no ones died or anything....." Emily thought as her dad began. "You see sweetheart.... well..... you know how much I've been wanting to become a musician right?" "Yeah you talk about it all the time." Emily said, not quite sure where this was heading. "Anyway," her dad continued. "A company has offered me a job. In..... Nashville." The words hit Emily like a punch to the face. "Wait...what? We're.... moving?!" Emily said, dumbfounded. "Yes sweetheart, we are. Next Friday is your last day at school. We leave Sunday afternoon." Mom said looking over at her daughter. Emily started to tear up. "How could you do this now? I was just about to become popular and be able to have a popular boyfriend, and now I have to start over?!" Emily cried. She ran sobbing to her room where she slammed the door behind her. "Emily! Don't be like this! You don't need to be so upset!" Her mom called knocking on the door. "Why shouldn't she be upset? We've basically ripped her from her life." Her dad said after her mom pounded on the door for over half an hour. "What did I do wrong???" Emily's muffled voice was heard from her room. "It wasn't you sweetheart. But you must have room in your heart for change." Her mom said following Dad down the stairs and out of earshot of Emily's sniffles.
