Abala ako sa pagkokopya ng mga sagot ni Leon sa activity namin nang biglang magkagulo ang mga babae kong kaklase. Nag-angat ako ng tingin ngunit mabilis ding ibinalik ang tuon ko sa papel na sinusulatan nang hindi ko makita kung sino o ano ang pinagkakaguluhan nila.

"Bilisan mo, dalawa pa tayong mali-late eh," reklamo ni Leon sa akin.

I glared at him. "Eh hindi ko nga maintindihan ang handwriting mo tapos gusto mo pang bilisan ko?"

"Hoy!" he playfully slammed his palm on his desk. "Sinusulatan ko si Mallory ng love letters linggo-linggo at ang sabi niya'y maganda ang sulat-kamay ko para sa isang lalaki!"

Tumawa ako nang malakas sa sinabi ni Leon. "She just said it so that it wouldn't hurt your feelings,"

Leon snorted and resumed on playing with his ballpen. When I was finally done, I rose to my seat. Both of us raced to the door, hoping we could still catch out MIL teacher and pass our seatwork.

Muntikan na akong madapa sa sobrang gulat nang umabot na ako sa may pintuan. Standing in his full six feet glory is Alas in his black sweater and pants. Nakakrus ang kaniyang dalawang kamay sa malapad na dibdib. Bumaba ang tingin ko at nakitang nakaupo sa harapan niya si Bullet. His ears perked up when he saw me and excitedly wagged his tail.

"Alas?" my jaw dropped. Humigpit ang hawak ko sa mga papel at tulalang napatitig sa kaniya, hindi pa rin makapaniwalang nandito siya sa aking paaralan ngayon.

"Palayo na si Mr. Salve!" reklamo ni Leon. When he sensed that I don't have any plan on moving from my place, he snatched the paper from me. "Ako na nga lang ang magpapasa..." he grumbled under his breath and hurried away.

"Hey," isinilid ni Alas ang kaniyang isang kamay sa bulsa ng kaniyang pantalon. Hinigpitan niya ang hawak sa leash ni Bullet nang magtangka ang asong lapitan ang isang estyudanteng gusto siyang amuhin.

"What are you doing here?" I asked and approached him.

Hindi nakaligtas sa paningin ko ang mga kaklase kong nakikitsismis sa aming dalawa. Alas drew a lot of attention without even knowing it.

"Don't tell me Bullet led all the way here to school?" I teased.

"Actually, he did." Alas shrugged. "I was once told by the officer that he managed to track the bomb and run straight for five miles. So getting here is not really a problem."

Once again, I was struck by the intelligence of his dog. I've seen it in movies, mostly action-packed films with their dog sidekick but never thought that these kind of dogs really existed in real life.

"Hey, boy," lumuhod ako para sana hawakan ang ulo ni Bullet. But the dog attacked me with licks on my face. I immediately pulled back, scrunching my nose in disgust as he wagged happily. "That was gross!"

Alas only chuckled.

I chewed my bottom lips and wiped my face with a handkerchief. Nang simulan na kaming tuksuhin ng aking mga kaklase ay napagdesisyunan ko nang ilayo si Alas sa lugar na iyon.

Kinuha ko ang leash mula sa kaniya. Excitedna naglakad ang aso. With his nose on the ground, Bullet scanned the surroundings and headed the way towards the gate.

"I asked the guard."

"And?"

Alas shrugged. "He let me in. I just told him my surname."

I sneered at him, realizing just how wealthy his family are for sponsoring one of the Grade 12 buildings here in our school. Ang isa namang laboratory para sa STEM students ay sinisimulan nang ipatayo. Madalas kong makita si Tita August sa eskwelahan kung hindi naman sa hospital.
