In elementary
They said to cutie little
"Dream , let your imaginations take you beyond this world
Into utopia where everything is perfect
Dream! Dreamers are leaders
Dreamers own the future
Dream! Be anything and one day your dreams would come true.Embarking on this journey
Creating dreams in different forms
Believing in dreams , holding on to them
Saying, " one day they'll surely come true"
Not knowing how they would but believing they would.
Striving towards the dreams .
Years go by
The dreams increase
Some are modified into perfection
Some are changed due to situations and others are added based on elations.
The dreams become a source of strength
An escape from reality
A driving force
A hope for the future.Suddenly
Reality sets in.
How are the dreams going to come true?
They never said how ,
They just said "dream"
They never said they'll support
They never said anyone will
They just said "dream" !The limitations glare
Their talons are sharp
Ready to rip the dreams apart to tiny bits that can never be put back.
They're ferocious
They prey on dreams
"Dreams must not survive" they say.Running through the labyrinth
Helpless...
Seeking a soul to save the dreams
But none is found in sight.
Turning, searching... Nothing .
The guide , the anchors, the only ones to turn to
Are limitations too
Who then will help ?Weighed down by the load of deferred dreams
Sitting in the middle of the labyrinth
Turning, tossing, weeping, wailing, tears stream endlessly.Looking around,
Seeing others with similar dreams achieve
Saying to self
If only I could...
I wish I had...
If only...
But wishes take you nowhere
They're reminders of deferred dreams. The weight of deferred dreams are like killer diseases
They build up little by little
Like a tumor
Then they strike suddenly.
Death.
