                                                           Chapter 1-The Meeting

The first snowfall of the year had just passed. An old man named Albert lived with his granddaughter, Clara, in a cleared area, surrounded by a large oak forest. One morning, Albert spotted a set of footprints from outside his window leading up to his barn. Albert warned Clara to stay inside while he went to investigate, he grabbed a shotgun from his gun cabinet and walked to the back door. He put his boots on and slid the door open and stepped into the clean, white snow. As he walked towards the barn, he heard a young boy's voice escaping from his destination. The barn door began to creak as he opened it cautiously, revealing a dark room filled with boxes and bundles of hay scattered around. He pulled the light cord down and the room lit up. As Albert kicked a box to the side he walked closer to the cries he heard earlier. After pushing a few more boxes over to the side, Albert noticed a boy, around the age of 16, sitting against the wall in the corner of the large room, shaking with tears rolling down his cheeks and mumbling words that Albert could not understand. He looked as if he was struck by lightning, his jet-black hair stood up towards the ceiling and his clothes were covered in snow and dirt. His jeans were ripped and his jacket had a smell so putrid, it was obvious he had not showered for days.

"What are you doing in my barn?!" Albert yelled at the teen, still tightly holding the shotgun, "Get out!"                                                                                                                                                                      "No, I-I'm not moving!" He replied in fear.                                                                                                   "Get off my damn property, or the wolves are gonna get ya, boy" Albert says, trying to scare him away.                                                                                                                                                          "I 'aint scared of no wolves after what I've just seen".                                                                                         "What did you see then?" Albert questions sarcastically.                                                                                    "I saw this eight foot tall beast, with white fur and claws bigger than a bear's." The boy describes as he stands up with his arms high in the air, posed like a bear that's ready to strike.                                                                                                                                                                    "So you're telling me this thing has claws bigger than a bears?"                                                            "Claws, body, head, everything! Bigger than any bear I've ever seen!" He yells, "I came across it, about a mile away, over there!" the teen points south, "And I know he's still waiting, we have to kill it!"
"Hold on, why would I want to go out with you and kill this thing? I don't even know your name, boy! It's done no harm here!" Albert shouted in a loud, sharp way.                                                                                                                   "Stop calling me boy, my name's Noah!" He replied, obviously annoyed. "It happened a year ago. Police told me it was a bear attack, I never believed them and now I know the truth and I want revenge."                                                                                                                                 "What happened a year ago?" Albert asks hesitantly.                                                                                   "I found my parents bodies, it wasn't a pretty sight, their bodies-"                                                                                "That's enough!" Albert shrieked as a girl with shoulder length, blonde hair and olive skin entered the barn. She lifted her legs over the boxes and made her way over to the two males standing in the corner.                                                                                                                         "Grandpa, is this the boy whose footprints are outside?" Clara stands in front of Noah, with her hands by her sides and her head tilted up.                                                                                 "Clara! I told you to stay inside, it's not safe out here when you're alone, now go back inside" ordered Albert.                                                                                                                        'No! I'm not a child anymore grandpa!" she fired back.                                                                                      "You are a child Clara!"                                                                                                                                               "I'm 16!" She argued, after one final glance at Noah and Albert she spun around and ran back to the house.

Albert turned to Noah and said "I think we should go inside and discuss this, with no interruptions". Albert and Noah make their way out of the barn and back to the house. There over hot cocoa, Noah tells Albert his story once again in more detail. They then discuss ways of finding the beast.                                                                                                               "From what we've discussed, I've come to the conclusion that this thing is a yeti" Albert confides to Noah. "If we are going to hunt down this yeti, it's best that we leave at dawn" Albert says. Noah starts to make his way up the stairs when suddenly Albert stops him and says, "No lad, you're sleeping down here on the couch and take a shower while you're at it, you stink!" Embarrassed, Noah runs to the bathroom.

Morning arrives and Albert makes his way downstairs to see Noah already dressed in the clothes he gave him last night, they didn't fit, but at least they were clean. Albert unlocked his gun cabinet and pulled out a shotgun, rifle and ammo. "Let's go, be quiet" whispers Noah, trying not to wake Clara, who was asleep upstairs. On the way out, Albert grabs a small first aid kit and a bag to place the ammo in.                                                                                                  "Point the way" says Albert to Noah, as they head out in a southerly direction towards the area the yeti was spotted in. As their boots sink into the snow, their footprints are left behind them. After an hour of walking they reach the perimeter of the forest, the snow still slowly floating down. "Are ya ready?" asks Albert,                                                                                                                                    "Let's just do it" Noah replies confidently. They enter the forest cautiously, guns trained at the ready. Suddenly there is a rustling sound behind them, they quickly turn and aim their guns, but to their surprise Clara appears from behind the tree. "Clara?! What are you doing here?!" asks Noah, concerned.                                                                                                                    "I thought another set of eyes may be helpful" she said smiling.
"How do you even know what we're looking for?" asks Noah.                                                          "I heard your story Noah".                                                                                                                          "Clara go home, you're not coming with us!" Screamed Albert, "Now turn back and return home!" Albert placed the rifle over his shoulder and spun around and headed deeper into the forest. Noah glances back at Clara and sighs, he then runs after Alfred.

Almost immediately, Albert and Noah hear a piercing scream coming from the area they had just left. "Clara?!" Alfred hollers. They head back to where they came from, and are shocked to see Clara being dragged towards a cave by the beast Noah had described to Albert. The two desperate men run straight toward the cave that she had been dragged into, it was pitch black. Suddenly another scream echoes from within the cave, "I'm going in!" screams Noah as he sprints into the dark cave.                                                                                 "You're not going in alone!" Albert reassures Noah, while running into the darkness of the cave.
