It was the end of my first semester in college. Thrown into break for a month. Away from freedom, from newly made friends. College felt like it had lasted so long, but it had only been 5 months.
Overall, college had exceeded my expectations. It was harder, but better than high school in every way. The only field it had lacked in was, my failed attempt of finding a new romance. I had saved myself for years- closing myself off to every possible suitor in high school constantly assuring myself. Oh yes, I will find the "one" in college. But as expected, the boys were a let down, if not worse.
Reflecting on my past experiences, the chronic problem I had within myself is my high standards. Yes, a cliche, the "I can never find someone because I know my worth." Well its true, even if it shouldn't exactly be worded that way. There was always a problem with every single boy. He's too nice?— nah. He's 5'9?— yeah no. He likes me too much?— bummer. It has been this cycle over and over. Nothing ever seemed enough. Do I even know what I want? Because it sure feels like it doesn't.
Tracing back to the boys in college, an absolute let down. As a high schooler the image you have of the boys you will meet in college do not even come close to reality. The boys are scruffy, unhygienic, and unreasonably horny all of the time. Must I mention more?
After 5 months of observing, experimenting, and living the men. My journey to find the ultimate suitor is looking dark. But slightly exciting, no?
