Chapter 2-Judging a Book by its Cover
Christian’s POV
I looked up at the large house in awe. This was where I was going to live? It was gorgeous. It was an incredible place. It was a mansion really, a large white mansion. When my mom had told me that her brother was well off I had never imagined this. The house was on a sprawling estate with acres of room to run. There was a substantial stable and the horses there were all beautiful and well maintained. My sister Carmen loved horses so I bet that is where she will be spending most of her free time.
“Uncle Andrew?” Carmen’s voice showed that she was just as awestruck as I was.
“Welcome to your new home!” He wrapped his arms around us in a giant bear hug. His driver had picked us up at the airport and this was the first time that we had seen him in four years and it was an amazing feeling. My uncle loved us, he really did, and we loved him too.
I’m pretty sure that any and everyone that had ever met my uncle had fallen in love with him at one point. He had been quite attractive in his day and he was aging graciously. But it was his personality that hooked you because he was the type of person that you could come to with anything. He honestly cared about all living things and if you had a problem he would do anything and everything in his power to help you fix it. If and when he couldn’t fix it for you he would be there for you while you tried to figure it out yourself and he never judged anyone. If Andrew McCentire hated anyone it would surprise me and they would have to be the scum of the earth to deserve it. If he hated anyone I know that they deserved it.
“Carmen, you’ve become such a beautiful young lady! The last time I saw you, you were but a little girl. But now look at you.” Her face turned bright red at his compliment. “Have you been having any trouble keeping the boys away from your sister Chris? Or have you been taking them all for yourself?”
I loved how relaxed he was about my sexuality.“Nah, I don’t worry too much. Carmen’s a good girl, usually…”
“Haha. You’re a much better older sibling then April or Alex ever was.” He was the baby of his family and he was…thirty seven? “Well let’s get you kids inside.” He grabbed a few boxes and Carmen and I followed suit. Between the three of us and the butler, yes he had a butler, it didn’t take long to get all of our things up the stairs to our bedrooms on the second floor of the three story home. You could tell that the house was quite old but it was well maintained.
“Well guys, I would love to give you a tour of the place. I’m sure that Joseph already gave you a tour of the grounds though.” His driver must be Joseph, and he had in fact given us a tour. “But I’m afraid that I can’t. It’s an unusually busy day for me because the MTV Video Music Awards are tonight so there are several clients that I have to see.”
“What exactly do you do Uncle Andrew?” Carmen asked.
“I’m a publicist. Which basically means that I manage publicity, both good and bad, for celebrities.”
“So what? Do you just give them advice?”
“Well yes, I basically give them advice on how to handle public situations to positively impact their career.”
