Kirsten's POV
When Art ended, I had Social Studies and Tech. Both classes were filled with day dreaming and wishing school was over. After what seemed like an enternity, the bell finally rang dismissing us to lunch. I grabbed my backpack, and ran out the room before anyone had time to even lift a foot up. The library was my first choice, not bothering about eating lunch.
My stack of books were still untouched on the table in the back. I walked over to them and immediately got comfortable. For some unknown reason, I just couldn't focus on the book, no matter how hard I tried. Maybe the courtyard might do me some good. I thought. I grabbed my books and got up to go check them out. The librarian didn't say anything to me and I'm glad she didn't. The other librarian was always nagging about how I always brought my books in late. I never seem to finish them before their due date. As I was walking out, I heard someone saying "Shut up", waking me from my daydreams about what might happen to Meggie. My head shot up and looked at the girl in disbelief, only because it was the new girl standing in front of me (Remeber the girl sitting with the four douchebags? Yeah. This is her!). Did she really just have the nerve to say shut up to me? I wasn't even talking!
"Excuse me?" I asked incredulously, getting her attention.
"Yes?"
"Did you just say shut up to me?!" I asked angrily, confused as to why she responded so innocently.
"What? No, gosh no, I was talking to myself." she said smiling and chuckling. She rubbed the back of her neck sheepishly.
"Huh..."I thought for a moment. This girl might not be as bad as I think. "Well you seem really odd and I like that. My name's Kirsten. But you should call me Kiwi." I shrugged.
"My name is Zoey- " she says, but I cut her off unintentionally.
"I know exactly who you are."
"How- " I really need to stop cutting her off.
"How do I know you? Well for starters, the whole school knows you and you hang with the four most popular guys in the school."
"That's why." I hear her mumbling to herself, as if she didn't know why everyone was gossiping. She seemed like a good person - not the kind that would hang with Tyler and his group. I took a huge leap, eager to make another friend.
"You know what?" I decide. "I think you're cool. Want to come chill at my place tonight?" I smile, trying to seem a bit more friendly. My books were getting heavy, so I hugged them to readjust.
"Yeah sure." she responded. My heart filled with relief - but a bit of worry. I had just made two friends in two days and that never happened. What if somethings wrong? What if they were just planning to fool me and make fun of me like they did last year.
"Uh well see you around." I said to her as quickly as I could. My feet took off and headed straight for the courtyard. While meeting Zoey, I lost a good ten minuets.
When I got to the courtyard, I finished Inkdeath in a snap. My mind went searching - should I read Paper Towns or maybe City of Bones. I decided to start The Maze Runner, only because the summary on the back seemed more interesting.
