The mornings were always quiet within the shop. Sure there were people sitting at tables, minding their own business as the time passed by. But no one dared to disturb the sound of silence. Constant pages being turned, buttons on laptops pushed or someone taking small bites out of their pastries. A short male sat on tall wooden stool behind the white marble counters. He was leaning over the counter while drumming his fingers, his eyes stared out into nothingness with boredom. This day for some reason felt more tiring than the other.
His dark green eyes moved over to the windows in the front of the building. The light they were giving in hurt his eyes right after looking in that direction, immediately, his eyes shot down to the counter again. He shut his eyes tight together he began to rub his eyes with his hands balled up in fist. He glanced at the clock on the wall directly in front of them on the opposite side of the room,it seems to be 8:45 already. (you can try to look at the photo up top,but it isn't the easiest thing to read or look at sorry,I just rushed to do it) They lowered his head onto the counter, dirty blonde locks flowed passes his ears, almost passed his eyes. They brushed against his cheeks as he stared hard at the countertop in thought, this day is really boring.
What felt like hours of nothing was actually about 30 minutes till a customer walked in. The small bell above the door alerted the guy someone came in. Pulling his head up as well as straighting his back out to greet the customer. It was man and woman, both in their late 50's as,I suppose,a married couple. The thought of them being happy brought a tiny smile to his freckled face. They were holding hands as the looked at the display of pastries. The husband looked to his wife with a smile and asked what she'll like. She responded with her own smile before point to the apple turnovers near the back of the display.
The blonde male was looking at the couple from the corner of his eye as they talked lightly to each other. He moved from his seat,he turn his body to them when they noticed his presence.
"Good morning how may I help you two?"The tiny smile started to grow bigger when talking to the deep in love couple."ah,hello to you too. I would like two blueberry muffins with a cup of black coffee. For my wife, she'll like an apple turnover with green tea, please." The older man spoke for the two of them."sure, here you go sir."The one behind the counter grabbing the pastry part of the order before exchanging with the other male for money.
They exchanged 'thank you' to each other before the couple moved to an open table. The blonde moved along the counter to grab a coffee mug and a glass for tea before moving to the back. He walked up to drink fountain and coffee machine to finish the order as thoughts of the couple came back to mind. He wish for the love of his life to walk through that door to love him so he wouldn't feel so lonely now and days. But he didn't think he will find anyone when stuck in the building taking care of his grandmother.
