A Different World

Well you were very glad for your love of culture now.You had learned how to make dishes from all different kinds ofcountries and you had a special place in your heart for English,Romanian, and Norwegian. The trio, and therefore the characters wereyour favorite and whetted an interest in the countries and culturesfor you.

So you had made a lunch made with smoked (favorite whitefish), a side dish made by redskin potatoes and shredded cheesecooked with some butter to make the potatoes soft, and for dessertsome homemade wagon wheels. Alice had offered to help on the wagonwheels but considering how bad Alice was honestly at cooking-you weretrying to teach her little by little-but they were very technicaldifficulty so regulated her to just make the raspberry jam. Raven andNora helped to. Raven had chopped the potatoes and Nora handledsmoking the fish herself while you worried about covering thesandwich like cookies in chocolate making them wagon wheels since youmade most of the stuff ahead of time.

With that all done you began packing up the picnic whilethe other three went to change into some clothing to go out. Ravenput on a lovely black with red accents sundress along with a bit redfrills along the bodice and her auburn hair in pigtails, Nora put ona pair of brown kapris and a white tank top the bodice and thicksleeveless straps the part that was from her bust down was white withbrown flowering pattern and her short hair combed with the Nordiccross barrette she had fallen asleep with clipped back so her bangswere out of her deep blue eyes. Alice had on a jean skirt and a(favorite English Punk band) band shirt, her long blonde hair inpigtails just like Raven, all three were wearing the necklace you hadbought them and she was holding a big blanket you all four would siton.

"Perfect; could you guys put these containers, andcutlery in the (basket/cooler) and make up some drink?" You askedand they nodded.

"Raven; get the plates, cups, and forks and knives,Nora; get the containers in, I'll pour the iced tea into thethermos." Alice took control while you hurried upstairs to getdressed. You put on (outfit you'd wear for a nice picnic out) and rana brush through your (wavy/curly/straight) locks and made sure youwere clean from cooking and finished getting ready before headingdown.

Done you got in with Nora sitting in the passenger'sseat and Raven and Alice sitting in the back with the (basket/cooler)and blanket between them. You drove them to the park and you walkedto the perfect picnic spot, Raven having the blanket and Nora the(basket/cooler). Once you got there you helped Raven spread theblanket and all four climbed on, Raven on one side, Nora on the otherand Alice sitting right across from you.

The meal was great, you had learned from a young age tocook, you had a great cooking but no meal was ever as good as thisone. You four all were relaxed and now they had all gotten to knowyou your meals were filled with laughter and joking around or justtalking, and someone cooking for you, honestly you were findingyourself happy. Even some casual acquaintances at school who weren'tcomplete assholes, and your coworkers all noticed you seemed moreopen and happy. You refused to think too hard on that though.

Once you had all eaten and talked and made merry youpacked everything back up you ended up walking between them. Raventook your arm and was skipping down the way happily, Alice beside youtalking to you, Nora would every now and then say something but onlywhen she had something to say.

When you passed by some girls that were known bullies ofyou, you honestly didn't notice. You were so into talking to allthree girls. Alice and you were talking about books honestly,comparing and contrasting her love of poetry and classics with (yourfavorite type of books). Nora was quiet and Raven had a habit ofgoing into her own world. Both the Norwegian and Romanian were avidreaders just like Alice and you. Raven liked to read different fairytales and modern versions and fantasy, while Nora liked to readmythology and mystery novels. You were trying to pull Nora out of hershell and Raven to pull from her memories of the current book she hadbeen reading before coming to this dimension; she couldn't rememberthe name of it so couldn't get the book to continue reading.

"Oh my god! It's that fat pig Name! And what the fuckis she around the others?" One girls naisely voice filled the airbreaking your happy conversation. You kept your back to her but thethree turned to look at her.

"Maybe their a bunch of lesbians?" Her friend'shateful ugly voice continued and the three others could sense how youalmost folded into yourself.

"Oi, shut your filthy mouths you twats!" Aliceyelled out and you froze up never hearing her use such foul language.She didn't have a problem cussing of course, but this was furtherthan that. This had the duo freeze up and that gave Nora a chance tocome over to them and she spoke. She didn't raise her voice or haveany inflection, the same emotionless voice which made it a littlescary.

"I don't know why you two feel like you need to putName down. I don't know if it is because you are cruel and you thinkit as entertainment, if it's because you see a default in yourself soyou want to drag someone down even lower then you, or if it isbecause everyone else does so you think you should to. It doesn'tmatter really, because you two are nothing." She finished and itwas then that Raven spoke up.

"And if you ever say another mean thing about Name,well...you'll wish you never found out." Raven gave them a sinistersmile showing off her vampire-like tooth. Both of them looked shockedand paled. Were they...were they afraid?

Nora, Raven and Alice were the sweetest people you hadever met but then again if they had done that to you, you'd probablybe scare to. With Raven still holding your arm Alice grabbed the handof your opposite arm and with Nora putting her hand on the small ofyour back leading you away.

As you walked away you were kind of shocked to hear thestring of cuss words and threats in English, Norwegian and Romanian.If you followed along right to what each were saying...damn.

"Don't listen to them Name," Raven whispered to younuzzling into your shoulder when she seemed to have going through allof the threats to them calmed down.

"Yes, you're lovely Name," Nora agreed and Alicenodded.

"Yes love, they are just gits."

You didn't believe them and thought they were just beingnice but it was so nice to hear. Still they grinned at you and youcouldn't help but smile back.

"Thank you guys," they would never know how much youmeant that but it felt so nice to feel the friendship and how theywere. You were very lucky and you knew and appreciated just how luckyyou were.
